Hero Xtreme Sports Discontinued?
The sales of the 150cc commuter seem to be affected by that of its own sibling, the Xtreme 200R
The sales of the 150cc commuter seem to be affected by that of its own sibling, the Xtreme 200R
- In the last three months, the sales of the Hero Xtreme Sports fell from 233 units to 161 units and then zero.
- It hasn’t been updated with ABS either.
- Hero already has a bigger 200cc commuter, the Xtreme 200R which costs only Rs 7550 more than the Xtreme Sports.
Launched back in 2015, the Hero Xtreme Sports didn’t exactly set sales charts on fire compared to other popular bikes in its segment like the Honda CB Unicorn 150 and the Bajaj Pulsar 150. Consequently, the 150cc commuter from Hero now seems to be nearing the end of its life cycle, as its sales tumbled from 233 units in December 2018 to 161 in January 2019. In fact, in February this year, not even one unit of the Xtreme Sports was sold.
The Hero Xtreme Sports is priced at Rs 82,350 for the front and rear disc brake variant. Also, Hero has not equipped the Xtreme Sports with ABS so far, which further reinforces the speculation that the bike will be discontinued. Even if Hero decides to add a single-channel ABS, the pricing would go up even further and would be dangerously close to the Xtreme 200R, which costs Rs 89,900 (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). And since the Xtreme 200R is a relatively new bike, offers a bigger engine, better power and torque figures at a price similar to ABS-equipped naked 160cc motorcycles, it seems highly unlikely.
With the Xtreme Sports seemingly out of the picture, it looks like Hero has moved on from the 150cc space altogether and has shifted its focus towards the 200cc segment. The XPulse 200 range will be launched later this month, and the brand is also working on a new iteration of the Karizma. The brand also seems to have a good hold in the sub-150cc segment with its Splendor range dominating sales charts in India.

Ek sports bike k tor par or dekhne me bhi achi lagti thi. Ghar me pehle se splendor or hf deluxe thi to ek bike unse thodi havey chahiye thi to maine decide kiya xtream 125 r ko lena hai. Iski pricing bhi thik hai. Starting me ride bahot achi thi, uske bad isme kami aani start hui. Iska engine pehle din se hi leak ho gya or 1.9 year ho gye hai, ab tak company service me vo dikkat thik nhi hui or jab bike ride karta hu to 60 or 70 ki speed ke bich me bike ka handle dead role karne lagta hai. Confidence khatam ho jata hai bilkul, 1 hand se control nahi hogi bilkul bhi. Bike ki look achi hai. Stylish hai, price attractive hai. Kam budget me heavy bike mil jati hai. Bike ko kharidne ke bahot se reason hai, bike look or price. Bike na kharidne ke bi bahot se reason hai, ride quality thik thak. Proper comfortable nahi hai, pith me pain ho jata hai lambi ride me or handling me bahot problem aa rahi hai. Engine me problem aa rahi hai, leakage to sabse jada hai engine ki, bas ye hi reason hai.Read More
I chose this bike because of the features and the style which is unbelievable under this price segment. The overall experience is good for me. I like the pickup of this bike very much, within a seconds, it touches 50, The hazard light feature is amazing having a bright led that looks outstanding and can be visible from far away. The overall riding experience is good. The gear seems stuck sometimes and the fuel gauge issue is there. Beside this, this bike is outstanding. The ABS feature, I like very much that gives me a full control over the bike on the road. I have covered almost many long rides like Jaipur to Agra etc. For long rides, it is not comfortable. Your body starts paining sitting after covering 200 plus kms. For short commute, the bike is good, having good braking that give a control over the road . Bike is most suitable for short commuters. I recommend this bike for college students and bachelors and for short commuters and for long riders. This bike is not suitable for long rides, your body pain starts after spending more than 200 kms. So, for Small rides, it is perfect and gives you a mileage around 32 to 38 based upon the riding. Overall, I will suggest, if you like to buy a bike with good look and mileage and under a budget, this bike is a good choice for you.Read More
