After many teasers, spy shots and what not, Hero MotoCorp, under its e-mobility brand Vida, has finally launched the Vida V1 electric scooter in India. The scooter looks futuristic and is a massive departure from anything that we’ve seen from Hero so far. Check it out in these set of detailed images:

Design

What you’ll notice instantly is the scooter’s contemporary design. It looks nothing like Hero has ever made, with its minimalist and clean design. The contrast between the black and other colours looks pleasing and the scooter has a very coherent overall design. Its chunky 7-inch TFT touchscreen console is flanked by sleek LED indicators and the switchgear looks very premium.

Motor

Both the V1 Pro and V1 Plus get an IP68 rated motor which claims to propel the scooters to a top speed of 80kmph. The V1 Pro, though, boasts of quicker acceleration, doing 0-40kmph in 3.2 seconds, against the V1 Plus’ 3.4 seconds.

Battery Packs

As for the battery packs, both the scooters get IP67 rated units. The V1 Pro gets a 3.94kWh battery pack while the V1 Plus gets a smaller 3.44kWh unit. As a result, the IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of the e-scooters are 165km and 143km respectively. The removable battery pack on the V1 claims a fast charging time of less than 65min to go from 0-80 percent.

Storage

The scooter’s underseat area houses the swappable battery, behind which is the storage compartment. It’s encircled by a removable pillion seat and a massive 26-litre underseat storage.

Underpinnings

The Hero Vida V1 is built on an underbone frame linked to a telescopic fork and a monoshock absorber. Braking is handled by a disc up front and a drum at the rear. The electric scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends with a 90-section front and 100-section rear tyre.

Instrument Console

The juiciest part of electric scooters is the slew of features they get and the Vida is no different. It gets a 7-inch touchscreen TFT console, two-way throttle, turn-by-turn navigation, cruise control, keyless ignition, parking assist, emergency alert and more. There are also four riding modes on offer: Eco, Ride, Sport and Custom. The last one, as the name suggests, is completely customizable, and lets you adjust how much regenerative braking or performance you’d want at the twist of your right wrist.

Price

Hero Vida V1

The Vida V1 Plus has been priced at Rs 1,45,000, while the V1 Pro carries a price tag of Rs 1,59,000 (both ex-showroom). While that’s a fair bit more than what we expected, the scooter packs the design and features to put up a fight against its rivals. It hence goes up against the likes of the TVS iQube Electric, Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and Bajaj Chetak.
