The Standard variant is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh while the Dual tone version is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

Launched back in 2003, Hero’s Karizma was the first semi-faired 200cc-plus offering in the country. The bike ran quite successfully until it was pulled off the shelves in 2016 due to lack of demand. Cut to the present and the company through its website has silently relaunched the Karizma ZMR, however, without any cosmetic or mechanical updates. What you get though are two variants – Standard and Dual tone, priced at Rs 1.08 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh respectively.

The Karizma ZMR failed to keep up with its rivals due to lack of updates and rising competition levels. That said, we suspect that Hero MotoCorp has decided to relaunch the bike due to high customer demand in that particular segment. Considering what its competition has to offer, we would have at least expected Hero to update the Karizma ZMR with features like LED headlights, a fresh instrument console, ABS, slipper clutch and a monoshock. Moreover, its odd styling wasn’t appreciated by many.

The powertrain is the same too: a 223cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, oil-cooled engine that produces 20PS at 8000rpm and 19.7Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It achieves a company-claimed top speed of 129kmph.

The ZMR employs conventional forks up front and twin shocks at the rear. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends. The bike tips the scale at 157kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15.3 litres.

If you’re a Hero loyalist and keen on getting your hands on the relaunched Karizma ZMR, you can visit your nearest Hero dealership as they have started accepting bookings for the bike. At this price point, the Karizma ZMR competes with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, priced at Rs 1.26 lakh, and the Yamaha Fazer 25, priced at Rs 1.29 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
