Hero Glamour X 125: Why It Is The Bike With The Best Features

The Hero Glamour X 125 is a premium commuter and is one of the most feature-loaded bikes in the 125cc segment. It is available in two variants: Drum priced at Rs 89,999 and Disc priced at Rs 99,999 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). Here’s an overview of the features the top-end Disc variant of the Glamour X gets:

Hero Glamour X 125 Instrument Console

The Hero Glamour X 125 gets a 5.5-inch LCD instrument console that has a speedometer, odometer, real-time fuel economy indicator, distance-to-empty readout , gear position indicator, and telltale lights. It has smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts, along with turn-by-turn navigation. 

Hero Glamour X 125 Cruise Control

The Hero Glamour X125 has two segment-first features: ride-by-wire throttle and a cruise control system. 

Ride-by-wire throttle controls the throttle using an electronic wire instead of using a traditional mechanical cable. This has allowed Hero to give the bike cruise control. Using the dedicated switch on the right side switch cube, the rider can set cruise control, and change the set speed for it. This is particularly helpful when riding open highways. It helps to reduce fatigue by maintaining a set speed automatically, without the need to use the throttle.

Hero Glamour X 125 Riding Modes

The Hero Glamour X 125 has three riding modes: Eco, Road, & Power. While these don’t change the bike’s power, it changes how the power is delivered. Eco keeps it quite easy, favouring mileage over performance. Road gives a balance of mileage and performance, while Sport offers full performance but with reduced mileage. 

Hero Glamour X 125 Stop-Start Tech

The bike has Hero’s i3s – a stop-start system – that  switches off the bike’s engine when at a standstill or idle and turns it on again when the clutch is pulled in. This tech is helpful in improving mileage in stop-go traffic, and thus significantly lowering the running costs.

Hero Glamour X 125 Panic Brake Alert

Lastly, the Hero Glamour X 125 comes with a ‘Panic Brake Alert’ feature that blinks both the front and rear indicators along with the tail lamp in panic or emergency braking situations. The other standard features of the bike are an all-LED lighting setup, a USB charging port, and a side-stand engine cutoff feature.

The new Hero Glamour X 125 is positioned squarely against the TVS Raider 125 and the Honda SP125. From these two, the Raider has the most features, and is quite a popular bike in the class. While it’s still a mileage conscious segment, buyers also prefer a decent feature set to make their commutes better, and don’t mind paying a bit extra for it, which is what the Glamour X 125 offers. In comparison, the standard Glamour sits in the cost-conscious 110-125cc segment wherein low purchase price and high mileage are preferred over everything else. With the segment-first features, Hero has definitely gained some attention but whether the formula works for it is something that only time will tell.
