For a premium of just Rs 1,450, Hero has made a tonne of updates to the venerable Glamour 125

Hero MotoCorp recently launched the Glamour 125 FI BS6 at a starting price of Rs 68,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). Hero has equipped the motorcycle with a host of updates to make it an even more compelling proposition than the BS4 model, all for a premium of just Rs 1,450. If you’re planning to buy one, here’s everything you should know about this motorcycle:

Pricing:

The Hero Glamour 125 FI BS6 costs Rs 68,900 for the base drum brake variant and Rs 72,400 for the front disc brake-equipped version. This makes it just Rs 1,450 dearer than the BS4-compliant Glamour 125 FI with a front disc. Interestingly, Hero MotoCorp does not offer a front drum brake in the BS4-compliant Glamour 125 FI. The new Glamour 125 FI BS6 competes against the Bajaj DIsconver 125 and Honda SP 125.

Powertrain:

Hero has equipped the Glamour 125 FI BS6 with a new 125cc fuel-injected BS6-compliant engine. It makes 10.87PS at 7500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6000rpm. Compared to the BS4-compliant Glamour FI, the engine produces 0.82PS and 0.4Nm less. Interestingly, Hero MotoCorp claims it is 19 per cent more powerful but this figure stands correct only when compared to the old-gen Glamour with the carburetted 125cc sloper engine (makes 9.1PS and 10.35Nm).

More importantly, the new Glamour 125 FI BS6 features a 5-speed transmission. The extra gear should go a long way in improving the mileage of the bike, particularly on highways. Another notable addition is the Auto Sail feature, which is essentially crawl assist technology. It helps in letting go of the clutch easily without losing momentum or stalling the engine at low speeds.

Underpinnings:

The Hero Glamour 125 FI BS6 is built on a new diamond-type frame for better rigidity and handling. Using the new frame has helped in increasing the ground clearance and suspension travel. Hero claims the front telescopic front fork offers 14 per cent more travel up front and 10 per cent at the rear. At 180mm, the ground clearance has also gone up by 30mm. This is enough for the bike to go over bad roads effortlessly.

Brakes include either a front drum or a 240mm disc, and a rear drum with a combined braking system as standard. For better stability, Hero has employed a fatter 100-section rear tyre. The front end continues with the same 80-section unit as before.

Features:

The Glamour 125 FI gets an analogue speedometer with a digital inset. The display shows the fuel level, trip meter and odometer readings and more importantly, realtime mileage too. The headlamp remains the same halogen unit. We’d have liked if Hero had offered an LED headlamp at least in the disc brake variant. That said, the tail lamp is LED and the indicators are traditional bulbs. The bike is available in four colours: Sports Red, Techno Blue, Tornado Grey, and Candy Red.
