Ultraviolette Shockwave: Launch Timeline Revealed

Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer, Ultraviolette, has revealed some interesting technical details and the expected launch timeline for its Shockwave electric dual-sport bike. Here are all the details:

Expected Launch Timeline 

The Ultraviolette Shockwave was officially unveiled in India in March 2025, with initial launch expected in the first quarter of 2026. The launch was later delayed to July 2026. However, Ultraviolette has now revealed that the bike is expected to be launched between January and March 2027.

New 100 V Architecture

The brand has also revealed that the new Shockwave will be based on an all-new 100 V architecture similar to their upcoming Tesseract electric scooter. The 100 V architecture should help with faster charging times, better performance, improved thermal management, and lower performance losses after prolonged aggressive riding.

What We Know So Far 

The Shockwave is powered by a mid-mounted electric motor that produces 14.5 PS and 505 Nm of wheel torque. It has a claimed top speed of 120 kmph and a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycles) range of 165 km.

In terms of underpinnings, it gets long-travel suspension at both ends, with an inverted fork and a monoshock. It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, along with disc brakes at both ends.

In terms of features, the bike will get a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity and an e-SIM. It will also get dual-channel switchable ABS and a 4-level traction control system as safety features.

The Ultraviolette Shockwave has faced significant delays to its launch timeline. The electric dual-sport bike was initially expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026, but the launch has now been pushed to the first quarter of 2027. We really hope the Shockwave finally makes it to the market this time.

Being based on a 100 V architecture, the Shockwave should benefit from faster charging times, better performance and improved thermal management. This should also help reduce performance derating during aggressive riding.

Priced at Rs 1,75,000, the Ultraviolette Shockwave is almost the same price as the top-spec variant of the Hero Xpulse 210, which is priced at Rs 1,75,959. It is also around Rs 57,000 less expensive than the Kawasaki KLX230, which starts at Rs 2,32,847 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
