Two family favourites, but which one suits your needs?

    Jupiter 110 vs Activa 110

Diwali is just around the corner, and if a new scooter is on your family's list, this is the week to decide. Two good scooters are the Honda Activa and the TVS Jupiter 110.

The Activa is the name everyone knows. The Jupiter has been around for over a decade and has crossed 6.5 million customers, according to TVS. Both are easy to ride, both cost about the same, and both are built for everyday use. So, if you're buying a scooter this Diwali, which one of the two makes more sense?

    Rs 89,825

The Jupiter starts about Rs 2,000 cheaper. It also costs less at the top: the Activa Smart is Rs 1,257 more than the Jupiter Dual Tone. The Jupiter has six variants against the Activa's four, and the Anniversary Edition is mostly a cosmetic pack.

Compare the two connected variants and the gap grows. The Activa Smart costs Rs 4,257 more than the Jupiter SmartXonnect Disc. The Jupiter also gets a front disc brake for that lower price.

If price is your main concern, Jupiter has the edge.

Size and weight are almost the same, so both are easy to push around and thread through traffic. The real gap is space.

    Jupiter 110 vs Activa 110

The Jupiter's seat is 64mm longer, which matters when you carry a pillion and a bag. Its boot is nearly double the Activa's. TVS says it takes two helmets. Our expert fitted a full office backpack with a laptop under the seat, and a few weeks of groceries too. The Activa's 18 litres feels small next to that.

    Jupiter 110 vs Activa 110

In looks, the Activa plays it safe, with a few chrome touches and a plain LED headlamp. The Jupiter has LED light bars at the front and rear. On top of that, you also get the Dual Tone variant recently added to the lineup. If you want something that looks a little more unique, the Dual Tone is worth a look.

    Jupiter 110 vs Activa 110

The Jupiter has more features, and most of them are actually useful in daily riding. Distance-to-empty is a big help because the fuel tank sits under the floorboard. The Activa's one clear advantage is the smart key. Its USB-C port is also nicer than the Jupiter's slow Type-A port.

Brakes are where the two differ most. No Activa variant gets a front disc. On the Jupiter, the disc comes with the SmartXonnect Disc variant and above. In our test from 60kmph, the disc-equipped Jupiter stopped in 19.96 meters and the drum-braked Activa took 25.99m. That's about 6 metres less, which is a lot when someone cuts in front of you.

    Mileage (our test)

    57.7kmpl

    61.2kmpl

Power figures look close on paper, but the Jupiter gets there at lower revs, so it feels quicker in real traffic. It reaches 60kmph two seconds sooner. The iGO Assist system also adds a small electric push when you open the throttle.

The Activa is calmer. It moves off gently and doesn't rush you. That suits new riders, but overtaking takes a little more planning. Neither scooter enjoys the highway. Both feel stressed once you go past 65-70kmph, so keep them for city use. The Jupiter is also more fuel-efficient in our test. As per our tests, the scooter returns a mileage of 61.2kmpl in daily use, so expect real-world numbers below the test figure.

    Verdict

For this comparison, the TVS Jupiter 110 comes out ahead this Diwali. It costs less, has much more boot space and a longer seat, and it is quicker and more fuel-efficient in our test. It also offers a front disc brake that the Activa doesn't.

Our pick is the SmartXonnect Disc. It has the disc brake and the connected features, and it costs less than the Activa Smart. It's a pity TVS doesn't sell the disc without the connectivity pack.

The Activa still makes sense if you want keyless start, a softer ride, or simply prefer the familiar Activa formula. Its Smart variant is the one to look at. Just know you're paying more for less space and no disc brake.

Festive offers are usually at their best right now, so check with your dealer before booking. And taking a test ride first is always preferable.

      A good scooter
It is comfortable for long rides. The fuel-injected engine sounds so good, and the pickup is very good. However, it should have more features, such as a glove box, boot lamp, and side-stand sensor, along with analogue controls. Overall, it is a good scooter.

      Old is gold
Amazing and trustworthy scooter. Honda is known for its reliability, and I would suggest it to others. Before the revolution, Honda had an amazing service network. I recently purchased an Activa, and it is giving me decent mileage.

Smooth and Reliable Honda Activa 6G
The scooter is a reliable partner and delivers smooth, reliable performance wherever I go. I have an Activa 3G at home, and compared to that, this upgraded BS VI variant has a new OBD-2B engine setup that provides a good riding experience. Having owned scooters in multiple colours in the past, I find this copper colour eye-catching and unique as well.

Best Scooty for men and women
Yes, it is a good choice to buy this scooty. Based on my experience, I would recommend it to both men and women, as it is very comfortable to ride. I have ridden this scooty for more than 500 km, and I would say it is worth buying.

      thank to the app
Very good app, easy to use, and helps find the best one for myself. I wish it would improve more in the future and help us in finding and giving the best scooter. Thanks a lot to this app for so many gifts and rewards. Since if we got to buy a new bike or scooter at a dealer, it costs a lot, but it now helps us to find the best one.
