Updated Bajaj Pulsar 220F Incoming: Here’s What We Expect

The most iconic Pulsar to get a comprehensive update soon

The Bajaj Pulsar 220F has been one of the most iconic motorcycles in the Indian two-wheeler market. While Bajaj has updated the bike over the years, it has largely retained its original design and mechanical package. However, during a recent first ride, the brand has confirmed that they will be introducing the Pulsar 220F with some comprehensive updates soon. Here’s what to expect from the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 220F.

Subtle Design Changes

Bajaj has retained the familiar silhouette of the Pulsar 220F for several years, largely because of its iconic status. While the motorcycle recently received an updated headlight design, the overall styling remains largely unchanged.

With the upcoming update, Bajaj is expected to introduce a few subtle design revisions rather than an all-new look. The bike could also get fresh paint schemes and graphics, similar to those offered on the newer Pulsar models. This should help keep the motorcycle looking fresh without taking away from its familiar identity.

New Hardware And Suspension Setup

The upcoming update could also bring changes to the motorcycle’s underpinnings. Similar to the newer Pulsars, the 220F could get a revised frame. More importantly, Bajaj could replace its existing twin-shock rear suspension with a monoshock setup.

The braking hardware could remain largely unchanged, although Bajaj could borrow components from the N160 SS. This would help bring the 220F in line with the newer motorcycles in its family.

More Features Onboard

The current Pulsar 220F gets a basic LCD instrument console. However, the updated model could receive the 5-inch TFT display seen on several new-generation Pulsars. It supports smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, document storage and Google Maps mirroring.

Bajaj could also introduce a switchable traction control system, and dual channel ABS adding another layer of safety to the motorcycle. There could also be the addition of a ride-by-wire throttle, along with multiple ride modes.

Could Get An All-New Engine

The Pulsar 220F has continued with its familiar engine, with emission-related updates being the primary changes over the years. However, the upcoming version could finally get an all-new engine, developed along similar lines to the updated Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150. Power figures are expected to remain in a similar range, but refinement and overall performance could improve.

Expected Launch Timeline

Bajaj has not announced an official launch timeline for the updated Pulsar 220F. However, considering the pace at which the brand is refreshing its Pulsar lineup, we expect the motorcycle to arrive soon, possibly by the end of 2026.
