The new SP 125 is the first BS6-compliant motorcycle in its segment

BS6-compliant SP 125 makes 0.57PS more than the CB Shine SP. It gets LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster, an engine kill switch and more! Deliveries will begin next week.

Honda has launched the BS6-compliant SP 125, which is based on the CB Shine SP, in India at Rs 72,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price, the new SP 125 is Rs 7,321 more expensive than the drum CBS variant of the CB Shine SP. It is available in two variants: drum and disc. As we have seen with the new Activa 125, Honda is also offering a six-year warranty (3 years standard and 3 years extended) with the new SP 125.

In terms of styling, the SP 125 looks similar to the CB Shine SP. However, there are some minor cosmetic updates such as restyled tank extensions, an LED headlamp and four new paint schemes: green, grey, blue and red. It also comes equipped with an engine kill switch.

One of the major mechanical updates that the new SP 125 has received is in the form of a BS6-compliant engine. Now, RTO documents, which were leaked online, already showed that the new model would be a bit more powerful than before. The 124cc engine is fuel-injected and produces 10.88PS and 10.9Nm of torque -- 0.57PS and 0.6Nm more than the CB Shine SP. What’s interesting is that it’s the same engine as the new Activa 125. Braking hardware consists of a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear. It comes equipped with a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a 5-step adjustable suspension at the rear. The new SP 125 is 13mm longer, 23mm wider and 18mm higher than the CB Shine SP. Moreover, the wheelbase is now 19mm longer than before, at 1285mm.

With this, the SP 125 is the first BS6-compliant motorcycle in the 125cc segment and goes up against the Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Glamour FI. Honda has already commenced bookings with deliveries scheduled for the end of this week.
