After announcing its arrival last month, Moto Morini has officially announced that it will launch the X-Cape 650, X-Cape 650 X, Seiemmezzo 6 ½- Retro Street And Scrambler in India . The Italian marque will be brought here by Adishwar Auto Ride India, the same folks behind Benelli, Keeway India and even Zontes. Here’s all you need to know about the motorcycles coming our way:
Moto Morini X-Cape 650
The most versatile bikes, keeping in mind the Indian road conditions, are undoubtedly ADVs. Moto Morini has hence brought in the X-Cape 650, a gorgeous-looking adventure tourer.
The meat of the matter is the X-Cape 650’s 649cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine making 60.8PS and 54Nm. It makes 5.2PS and 7Nm less than its direct rival, the Kawasaki Versys 650.
Underpinnings on the bike include a 50mm Marzocchi fully-adjustable inverted fork along with a preload and rebound adjustable KYB monoshock. You get a 298mm double disc up front working along a 255mm single disc at the rear paired with Brembo calipers at both ends. There is the added safety net of dual-channel ABS on offer as well. The 19 & 17-inch alloy wheel combination indicates the bike’s intention of striking a balance between road and off-road riding.
Bits like an 18-litre fuel tank, 175mm ground clearance and an accessible 810mm seat height add to the bike’s practicality.
Moto Morini also offers the X-Cape 650 X, the more off-road focused of the two, which has an 835mm seat height (25mm more) and comes with spoke wheels. Unfortunately, it retains the 175mm ground clearance, which may not suffice for off-road exploits.
This retro motorcycle has the same 649cc twin-cylinder engine but it makes 55.7PS along with 54Nm. It gets a 43mm inverted fork and a preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. You get the same braking setup as the X-Cape twins along with Bosch-sourced dual-channel ABS. The Seiemmezzo Retro Street features an 18 /17-inch alloy wheel setup.
Moto Morini also has the Seiemmezzo 6 ½- Scrambler on offer, a bike that has all the bells and whistles of the Retro Street, but comes shod with spoke wheels. The bikes also have aesthetic differences in the way the Scrambler has a flyscreen, high-mounted fender as well as different side panels.
Moto Morini hasn’t announced the price of the motorcycles yet, but we expect the bikemaker to price it competitively. The X-Cape 650 twins will go up against the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Seiemmezzo 6 ½ Retro Street and Scrambler will compete against the Kawasaki Z650RS.
