The electric two-wheeler category represents some truly world-class scooters and motorcycles you can buy here and also vote for. Here’s the list:

Best Electric Two Wheeler Of The Year: Vote For Your Favourite Bike

Our first edition of the Auto Premier League celebrates the best two-wheelers in the country. In true Premier League style, you can participate in this knockout-style voting system where the bikes/scooters that receive the least amount of votes get eliminated until one champion remains. This category includes the best electric scooters and motorcycles you can buy in India. This is a relatively nascent segment in India but that hasn’t stopped automakers from offering the best in tech and performance. Want to know more about the Auto Premier League? You can vote for all the categories in Round 1 by clicking on this link. And if you want to vote for your favourite electric two-wheelers, don’t forget to check back on 10th June, when Round 2 goes live.

Bajaj Chetak:

Bajaj revived the Chetak name with its first electric two-wheeler. The Chetak impresses with its retro styling and top-notch fit and finish levels. Underneath the neo-retro bodywork is a competent electric motor and battery pack. It gets a simple-looking digital instrument console but comes with features such as Bluetooth connectivity and internet connectivity. While performance is adequate, the Chetak offers fantastic range for city use.

Pros:

  • The design is timeless and elegant
  • Fit and finish levels are impressive
  • The real-world range of 95km is pretty high

Cons:

  • Top speed of 60kmph can feel a little slow
  • Ride quality is a little harsh at speed

TVS iQube:

TVS’s second attempt at an electric scooter is quite a step forward. Instead of a neo-retro design like the Chetak’s, the iQube keeps things a little more conservative. It does impress with its colour TFT instrument console with OTA updates and navigation though. It is in the powertrain department where the iQube stands out. TVS has done well to tune the iQube and in Sport mode, it offers a fantastic rush of power all the way to its 80kmph top speed. Its supple suspension setup offers great balance as well.

Pros:

  • Peppy power delivery.
  • Well-balanced suspension setup soaks up bumps really well.

Cons:

  • Has an annoying startup tune, which sounds like a certain water purifier.
  • The raised floorboard means your knees could foul with the handlebar while making tight U-turns.
  • Doesn’t support fast charging, yet.

Ather 450X:

The Ather 450X offers virtually everything you would expect from an electric scooter and much more. Apart from an edgy bodywork and the best quality panels we have seen on a scooter, the 450X is brimming with tech. It gets a large colour touchscreen instrument console, smartphone connectivity, navigation, and over the air (OTA) updates. Features aside, the Ather 450X is the most powerful scooter you can buy in India. It even gets a manic Warp mode which delivers blistering acceleration. It is also the only scooter in this category that supports fast charging.

Pros:

  • Warp mode literally warps our notion that EVs are slow.
  • Extremely agile handling.
  • Decent range for everyday commutes.

Cons:

  • Limited availability.
  • Rear disc brake frequently locks up wheel under hard braking.
  • Switchgear quality could’ve been better.

Revolt RV400:

The only electric motorcycle currently available in India comes with first-in-EV class tech like unique artificial motorcycle sounds. It is also the only one here to get a removable battery. Its compact size and weight almost equal to  a 110cc bike which makes it easy to ride even for novice riders. The Revolt RV400’s feature list is on par with the other electric scooters here, and it gets geo fencing as well as navigation. While performance is comparable to a 110cc motorcycle, the RV400 claims to have a range of 156km!

Pros:

  • A light kerb weight of 108kg makes manoeuvring in the city effortless
  • At 220mm, the ground clearance is as much as the Hero XPulse 200!
  • Removable battery makes charging more convenient.
  • Affordable financing scheme which is unlike anything on offer so far.

Cons:

  • Throttle feels a bit jerky, especially in Sport mode.
  • Availability is restricted only to a few cities to start with.
  • Quality of certain plastic parts feels flimsy.
