- The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6 weighs 5kg more than the BS4-compliant version.
- It also gets a bigger front disc brake.
- Apart from these changes, the rest of the motorcycle remains unchanged.
The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6 has been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 1,17,286 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 8,960 more than the BS4-compliant version. Interestingly, deliveries of the updated motorcycle commenced at select dealerships in early March. But now with the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc in the world, Baja’s dealerships across India are shut due to the lockdown, so expect deliveries to resume once the situation stabilises.
The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS6 is powered by a BS6-compliant 220cc air-cooled 2-valve engine with oil cooler. It generates 20.4PS at 8500rpm as opposed to the BS4 Pulsar 220F’s 20.93PS at the same rpm. However, the peak torque has remained unchanged at 18.55Nm at 7000rpm. The engine works in conjunction with a 5-speed transmission.
Along with the cleaner engine, Bajaj has offered a bigger 280mm front disc brake as opposed to the 260mm unit in the BS4 version. It comes with single-channel ABS as usual. The rear employs the same 230mm disc brake as before. Meanwhile, the suspension setup has been retained - it continues to be equipped with a telescopic front fork and a pair of Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear with 5-step preload adjustability. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 90-section front and 120-section rear tubeless tyres.

Interestingly, the bike’s kerb weight has gone up from 155kg to 160kg, kerb. That’s likely due to the additional emission restricting components in the motorcycle. Apart from these changes, the rest of bike remains unchanged. As far as features are concerned, it continues to get the same projector headlamp, LED tail lamp, raised clip-on handlebars, semi-digital instrument cluster, and split seats with split grab rails.
In terms of rivals, the Bajaj Pulsar 220F goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6, which retails at Rs 1,25,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

At the heart of the 220F is its 220cc oil-cooled engine, delivering approximately 20.4 PS and 18.55 Nm of torque. Owners consistently praise its mid-range grunt, which makes highway cruising effortless. While it lacks the high-tech refinement of newer liquid-cooled rivals, its linear power delivery is predictable and satisfying for both beginners and experienced tourers.Read More
