The first CNG bike from Bajaj Auto is expected to get a 150cc engine
The much anticipated Bajaj CNG bike is set to launch sooner than expected, as revealed by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, in a recent interview.
While the bike was set to launch in 2025, good testing results have accelerated the process, and the bike is now slated to launch between April and June 2024.
Rajiv Bajaj pointed out that the most common motorcycle displacement capacities are 100cc, 120cc, and 150-160cc. He believes that offering a CNG bike in each of these capacities will attract buyers, and Bajaj wants to create a portfolio of CNG bikes with different engine capacities.
Bajaj Auto plans to start with one CNG model and expand from there. It looks like the first CNG bike Bajaj will launch might have a 150cc engine. Also, from when it was spied earlier on, we got to know that it will get a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup. In an earlier story, we talked about how difficult it is to fit a CNG cylinder on a bike and Rajiv Bajaj mentioned this in the interview as well, because as compared to scooters, bikes don't feature much storage space. The expected price for the CNG bike from Bajaj Auto is around Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom).
