Bajaj’s first all-electric scooter is expected to be priced at around Rs 1 lakh

[Update: Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launched In India]

  • Bookings for the electric Chetak might start by the end of this month.
  • It will be launched in Pune first, followed by Bengaluru.
  • The e-Chetak features Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and start-stop button.

Bajaj has officially confirmed on its social media platform that the sales and deliveries of its all-electric Chetak will begin in January 2020. The electric Chetak might reach Bajaj’s Probiking dealerships by November-end and could be launched by next month. What’s more interesting is that dealerships might start accepting bookings by the end of this month. As per our sources, Bajaj could start accepting online bookings for the new Chetak as well, however, details are scarce right now.

For the time being, Bajaj will sell the electric Chetak in a phased manner, just like the Revolt RV400 and the Ather 450. The all-electric Chetak will be available in Pune first, followed by Bengaluru. Bajaj hasn’t launched the new Chetak in India, so we don’t have the price with us yet, but we expect it to retail at around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the all-electric Chetak will rival the segment-leader, Ather 450, which is priced at Rs 1.13 lakh.

Does the electric Chetak pack enough to take on the mighty Ather 450? Well, it gets a digital instrument cluster, LED lights, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and a start-stop button. Now, that’s a pretty feature-loaded list, isn’t it?

The Pune-based bike maker hasn’t revealed the specs yet, but it has announced that it features a 4kW traction motor, and its lithium-ion battery pack will offer a range of 95km on a full charge in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode. More details about Bajaj’s first all-electric scooter will follow soon. So stay tuned to BikeDekho for updates
