Apollo Tyres which is one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the country is now exploring to enter the two-wheeler segment. The recent growth of two-wheeler tyre market can be attributed as one of the reasons. Headquartered in Gurgaon, the management of Apollo tyres is considering to expand their line-up by next year.

“We are now exploring options in the two-wheeler segment actively. The company doesn’t have a specific timeline to the launch of two-wheeler tyres, but it should be towards the end of this fiscal year or latest by beginning of next fiscal year,” said the company management.

Currently, the two-wheeler tyre market is shared by Ceat, MRF, Birla, TVS Srichakra, Metro Continental and Ralco and is dominated by MRF in the country. According to some experts, the competition is not very tough as there are fewer numbers of competitors with respect to other segments.

Apollo Tyres is already having a robust presence in the passenger and commercial segments, but as a newcomer in two-wheeler segment, it might have to face some heat with the current competition. Pirelli and Metzeler are other two new entrants in the two-wheeler tyre segment trying to establish their presence in the Indian market.

The performance motorcycle market is growing at a constant rate and demand for premium tyres is also increasing. Considering the Indian company, Apollo tyres will be benefited by the economical price and easy availability when compared to its international rivals.

Apollo Tyres Limited was founded in 1976 and became the biggest Indian brand in the tyre segment and has a network of around 4,000 dealerships with 2,500 exclusive outlets in the nation. Apart from India, the company has four manufacturing units viz: one in South Africa, two in Zimbabwe and one in Netherlands.
