Overview
Hero is the first the company who registered itself as the maker of India’s first adventure bike in 150cc segment. Few years back, Hero Impulse landed to the Indian shores. Since its inception, the bike receives a lot of appreciation from the buyers because of its amazing body dynamics and butter-smooth performance.
The bike is propelled by a 149.2cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that is mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox and uses a multiplate clutch assembly for power transmission. It comes fitted over 90/90 x 19-52P front and 110/90 x 17-60P rear sticky tyres that have a good grip on the roads. Furthermore, it features a disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear. It employs hydraulic telescopic forks as its front suspension and swing arm aided mono shock with nitrox as its rear suspension.
Built on an adventure bike platform, the machine has been equipped with a high-mounted front fender and a sporty headlamp that provides it a remarkable visual aspect. It has a sharply designed fuel tank with large tank shrouds and flat handlebars that gives it an upright riding stance. It comes with a thick-cushioned split seat that offers a high-end comfort to the rider as well as the pillion. Talking about the rear, the bike sports a highly positioned muffler along with a stylish rear grab rail and LED tail lamp. The instrument cluster of the off-road adventure bike comprises of a digital speedometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer.
Design
Impulse is the country’s first adventure bike in 150cc segment offered by Hero. It has a muscular body structure and ensures a butter-smooth performance. At the front, it features a sporty headlamp along with clear lens turn indicators and adventure-styled front fender. The instrument console of the bike is easy to read and displays the information about a digital speedometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and an analogue tachometer. The fuel tank of the machine has been crafted nicely and has a larger tank shrouds that give an upright riding stance to the rider. It has a fuel capacity of 11.1 liters. Furthermore, it has also been loaded with long motocross inspired seat that ensures smooth and comfortable ride for a rider as well as pillion.
Talking about the rear, the adventure sportbike features an LED tail lamp along with twin clear lens turn blinkers and impressively designed long rear grab rail. A high-mounted exhaust system finds its place just below the saddle. Bolted on a Semi-double-cradle frame, the bike has an overall dimension of 2100 mm in length, 820 mm in width, 1160 mm in height along with a wheelbase of 1360 mm that offers it an indispensable posture on the street. It has a minimum ground clearance of 245 mm that ensures a good and smooth stability around the corners.
Features
Impulse houses a powerful 12V-35/35W halogen headlamp at the front that ensures good visibility at night. It has been fitted with MRF Zapper tyres at the front as well as the rear end that ensures good adhesion to the road, hence provide a good grip and smooth ride quality. The above-mentioned safety features make Hero Impulse a thrilling yet safe true adventure bike.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Powering the bike is a 149.2cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC engine that comes mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox and uses wet multiplate clutch assembly for uninterrupted power transmission. The mill is capable enough to develop a maximum power of 13 bhp at 7500 rpm along with a peak torque of 13.4 Nm at 5000 rpm. It employs D.C - CDI with TCIS as its ignition system and carburetor controlled with variable ignition as its fuel system. The fuel injected mill has a bore x stroke ratio of 57.3 mm x 57.8 mm. With this setup, this bike can sprint 0-60 kmph in just 5 seconds and can hit a maximum speed of 115 kmph. For an easy start, the machine has also been provided with an electric start button.
Handling & Ride Quality
Hero Impulse equipped with 90/90 x 19-52P front and 110/90 x 17-60P rear sticky MRF Zapper tyres that are fitted over robust and durable spoke wheels that give a good grip on both, tarmac as well as bumpy surfaces. The braking duties are carried out by 240mm disc brake at the front and 110mm drum brake at the rear. Forbye, the bike also features a suspension system that includes hydraulic telescopic forks up front and swingarm assisted gas-filled Nitrox mono shock absorber at the rear end.

April 1, 2016: Hero MotoCorp introduced its premium 150cc motorcycle named as the Impulse to serve the needs of off-road biking enthusiasts in India. But, unfortunately it did not get a good response and resulted in the company discontinuing the model. It featured a raised front fender and a highly mounted muffler giving it a rough look.
