Commuter bikes are a lifeline in India. The elements of high fuel efficiency and reliability make for a formula that’s sure to succeed. However, for all these years, the need for a unique workhorse has gone largely unsatisfied. Giving the masses personal transport with a personality was a thought and Bajaj turned it into something that can actually be bought, with the V15.
The bike uses metal taken from the INS Vikrant and sports a pleasantly unusual design. The low-slung stance and rear seat cowl say café racer, while the wide handlebars and wide rear tyre read cruiser. The result strikes a good balance of the old and new.
The neutral riding posture is comfortable for city traffic and the suspension deals with bad roads well. Its 150cc, DTS-i engine makes 12PS of power and 13Nm of torque. The powertrain hasn’t been designed for high-speeds, but for everyday usability, so you get good low-end grunt delivery.
The V15 is a well-rounded machine that gives the common man something special to ride. It offers novelty and affordability with a price of around Rs 60,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
