BMW R 18 Latest Updates
BMW Motorrad has introduced a special accessory package called the ‘Option 719’. This includes protective fitments, a special seat, a premium paint finish with colour-changing effect, and a set of wheels.
Following the launch of the BMW R 18 last year, the German brand launched the R 18 Classic ‘First Edition’ in February 2021 in the country at Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). The Classic is essentially the R 18, but in a touring-friendly guise. A taller windshield, auxiliary lights, a set of slash-cut exhausts, and a pillion seat distinguish it from the standard R 18.
The R 18 cruiser is available in two variants: standard and First Edition. Prices for the cruiser start from Rs 18. 90 lakh with the First Edition priced at Rs 20. 90 lakh (ex-showroom India).
The R 18 is the first cruiser from BMW in India, with the brand re-entering the cruiser space after a span of 16 years. The R 18’s styling, which is inspired by the 1936 BMW R5, looks absolutely gorgeous! While it may seem retro on the outside, the R18 gets modern equipment such as LED illumination bits, rider aids, and even a semi-digital console.
The bike is powered by a massive 1,802cc boxer engine producing 91. 1PS and an earth-moving 158Nm of torque. The bike features a 6-speed transmission linked to a shaft drive system, an iconic feature of the German brand.
The direct rivals of the BMW R 18 are the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy and the Indian Chief Dark Horse.
