Overview
The BMW S 1000 R is a high-performance, litre-class streetfighter, naked motorcycle from the German marque. It’s based on the same platform as theS 1000 RR but has upright ergonomics.
BMW S 1000 R Price
The BMW S 1000 R is priced from Rs 19,00,00 to Rs 23,30,000 (ex-showroom).
BMW S 1000 R Colour Options
The BMW S 1000 R is offered in 3 colour options: Black Storm Metallic, Bluestone Metallic, and Light White/M Motorsport.
BMW S 1000 R Variants
The motorcycle is offered in 3 variants: Standard, Pro, and Pro M Sport. The Pro variants come with enhanced electronics, additional riding modes, and dynamic suspension settings. The M Sport variant adds weight-saving components and the Light White colour.

BMW S 1000 R Design
The S 1000 R carries a muscular and minimalist aesthetic, with a small headlamp, winglets, sculpted fuel tank knee recesses, and a compact tail section. The bike also gets forged metal components and clear-coated carbon parts in the M Sport trim.

BMW S 1000 R Engine
The BMW S 1000 R is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine with 4 titanium valves and 2 injectors per cylinder, BMW’s ShiftCam technology. It produces 165PS at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 9,250rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and bidirectional quickshifter.

BMW S 1000 R Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The BMW S 1000 R uses a Bridge-type (perimeter) aluminium composite frame with the engine as a stressed member. It gets a 45mm inverted fork with electronic adjustment (in Pro variants), and a monoshock with progressive damping, also electronically adjustable. The front suspension offers 120mm of travel, while the rear has 117mm. It has twin 320mm floating discs with radially mounted 4-piston fixed calipers at the front, and a 220mm disc with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear. The bike rides on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels, with 120-section rubber up front and 190-section for the rear. Pro M Sport variants get forged aluminum or optional M carbon fibre wheels. It has a 830mm seat height, 151mm ground clearance, 16.5 litres fuel tank, and 199kg kerb weight (194kg with carbon wheels).

BMW S 1000 R Features
The BMW S 1000 R comes with a 6.5-inch TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, keyless ignition, all LED lighting and multiple layouts depending on the ride mode. It gets an extensive electronics suite that includes cornering traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking control, hill start control, wheelie control, launch control, and cruise control. There are multiple ride modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro or Race Pro (on Pro variants), which are user customizable. The Pro M Sport model also includes the M GPS Laptrigger, M Endurance chain, a lighter M battery, and telemetry integration.

BMW S 1000 R Competition
The BMW S 1000 R competes in the naked, streetfighter litre-class alongside the Ducati Streetfighter V4, Speed Triple 1200 RS, and the Kawasaki Z H2. While the Ducati offers more outright power, and the Kawasaki adds supercharged drama, the BMW offers a balanced, more manageable power delivery, and excellent electronics. Or, you have the option of the Honda CB1000 Hornet, which makes only 15PS less but is much more affordable than all its competitors.
