Okinawa Praise Highlights
22 December 2017: The Okinawa Praise has finally made its way to the Indian electric two-wheeler market. The company claims that it can run 170km to 200km on one single full charge, which is incredible. It is the second offering from the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturing company after Ridge. The e-scooter can hit the best-in-class top speed of 75Kmph. The Okinawa Praise is priced at Rs 65,188 (On road, Delhi) and comes loaded with features, unlike its sibling which is an entry level e-scooter. The new Praise is a premium offering that sports features like Anti-theft function, keyless start option, remote locking, a location tracker device called ‘Find My Scooter’, a mobile charging point and E-ABS (Electronic Assisted Braking System). Adding to the features on this electric scooter, there is a fully digital instrument console, front and rear disc brakes and energy-efficient LED lights. On the mechanical front, it is powered by a 72 Volt/45Ah lead-acid battery that is good enough for 3.5bhp power and a massive 40Nm of peak torque. The figures are enticing especially the torque output that’ll keep buyers interested. There are three dual colour tones on offer including Glossy Purple/Black, Matte Blue/Black, and Matte Golden/Black. The Okinawa Praise competes against the likes of Hero Electric Wave, Hero Electric Optima and the Avon E Scoot in the Indian electric scooter market.

With the aim to build a greener, cleaner and better future, Okinawa presents the Praise. The e-scooter that redefines capability and possibility fronts for electric two-wheeler market. It comes loaded with features that no other scooter in the segment possesses. It supersedes opponents predominately on grounds like safety, feature catalogue, performance and battery range. Major highlights of the scooter include its ability to hit the top speed of 75kmph, travel range of 170-200km, Electronic Assist Braking system (E-ABS), location tracking device, Anti-theft sensor and mobile charging point. You need to shell out Rs 59,889 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) to own this highly-efficient electric scooter.
Okinawa Praise is a one of its kind electric scooter in India. It looks like a practical daily commuter not only in terms of performance, speed and features but looks as well. With multiple paint schemes available for grab, it offers consumers a range of options. Out of the presented colour schemes Glossy Purple/Black, Matte Blue/Black, and Matte Golden/Black, the e-scooter looks fascinating in Matte Blue/Black.
The Praise is the only e-scooter in India with LED headlamp with DRLs at the moment. On the dash, there is a fully digital instrument cluster with a blue backlight. It shows all the important readings to the rider that includes speed, battery level and trip meter. The silver accents over the dash are nicely done and add to the scooter’s appeal big time. The seat seems to have been covered with premium material. There is a resting support for the pillion for enhanced comfort. The side stand of the scooter comes with a side stand sensor that does not allow the vehicle to start when the stand is engaged, which certainly is a useful feature to have in a scooter. Adding to its appeal, there are 12-inch alloy wheels with discs and golden covers for the front telescopic forks. On the convenience front, there is a 19.5-litre under seat storage compartment.
Under the skin, the new Praise has an electric motor that is powered by a 72 Volt/45Ah lead-acid battery, which churns out 3.5bhp power and a massive 40Nm of peak torque. The scooter offers a range of 170 to 200Km on one full charge. The battery can be completely charged in 6 to 8 hours. There are three riding modes: Economy, Sporty and Turbo. In the Economic mode, the scooter can hit a max speed of 35kmph, in the Sporty mode it can do 65kmph and in the Turbo mode, it can go as high as 75kmph along with the full potential of 40Nm torque. It is the fastest electric scooter in India till date.
Okinawa Praise features hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and gas-charged hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. This set up is capable of seeing through the bumps and rough patches on the road with aplomb, hence offering a lot more stable ride than other e-scooters in the market. The scooter gets disc brakes at both, front as well as rear. The front features dual disc brake while the rear comes with single disc brake. The braking mechanism is assisted by Electronic Assisted Braking System (E-ABS) which enables the re-generation of power from braking to increase efficiency and distributes brake force equally to the front and the rear wheels. This brings scooter to a stop, quickly and effectively.
The highlight with respect to safety is the E-ABS, which evenly distributes the braking force to the wheels and reduces the stopping distance significantly and maintains the balance of the scooter at the same time. The anti-theft sensor triggers an alarm if someone tries to steal it. The wheels are wrapped by 90/90 tubeless tyres that offer stability in case of a puncture. In addition, there is ‘Find My Scooter' location tracker device, which is a quite handy feature in case thieves take away your scooter.
