The motorcycle is likely to be launched in China in the coming months

Packs a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with 43.5PS and 34Nm on tap. Features premium underpinnings. Claimed mileage stands at over 33kmpl.

Zontes has unveiled a new retro-styled scrambler concept, the Zontes 350GK, for the Chinese market. This motorcycle is also likely to be available in a cafe-racer-themed variant, called the Zontes GK Sports Cafe. The two bikes could be launched in China in the coming months, followed by select European markets.

The Zontes 350GK is powered by a new single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. While the exact displacement is unknown, it is likely to be around 350cc, as its name suggests. The motor is reported to churn out 43.5PS (same as the KTM 390 Duke) and 34Nm, pretty healthy for a bike of its class. More importantly, the company claims to have tweaked the engine with new balancer shafts, connecting rods, and the likes for a 20 percent reduction in vibrations compared to its rivals in the segment. The claimed mileage is around 33kmpl, so with the generous 17-litre fuel tank, you can travel over 500km on a tankful, at least theoretically.

The engine is nestled inside a tweaked chassis with a new aluminium swingarm. The underpinnings are premium too. It packs an inverted front fork, rear monoshock, disc brake at both ends with a radial caliper up front, and 17-inch spoke wheels with 120-section front and 160-section rear block-pattern tyres. The cafe-racer variant comes with road-biased tubeless rubber and lowered handlebar with bar-end mirrors.

Other notable features include an all-LED lighting system, TFT instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, and an optional keyless operation. The motorcycle is said to tip the scales at around 150kg, which is impressive for a bike in this segment.

Overall, Zontes seems to be heading in the right direction. The majority of its current lineup comprises modern-looking motorcycles with angular design, so the Zontes 350GK comes as a breath of fresh air. Moreover, the retro segment is fast gaining popularity, and the upcoming 350cc scrambler and cafe racer have an excellent chance of taking a piece of the pie in this space.
