Yamaha’s Motobot Concept to Come Alive by 2017

Back in October 2015, Yamaha showcased a revolutionary technology, Yamaha Motobot, at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show. Well, it looks like this freakish technology by Japanese Giant will hit roads by 2017. Showcased once again at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2016, the company hopes that Motobot will be performing laps on the track up to 125mph of speed by next year. The company is developing the Autobot to compete against one of the fastest MotoGP riders - Valentino Rossi’s lap times on a racetrack.

During the show, Yamaha announced that its ambitious project has entered the phase two of Motobot development plan, and looking to upgrade the Motobot with IMU and GPS sensors that will allow this out-of-the-world rider to realise the race track. Also, allowing it to analyze the bike it sits on. The company is also hoping to add learning technology to the humanoid, enabling it choose own racing lines and push the boundaries of the motorcycle as and when required. Reportedly, the company is working on to learn advanced technology that it could incorporate in its future offerings. 

According to the Yamaha Representative, “The sophisticated technologies acquired in achieving the objectives detailed here are also intended to be applied to advanced technologies and rider support systems in future, as well as other options that may segue into new business development”. 

The development of Yamaha Motobot clearly indicates that Apple is not the only company working on self-riding motorcycle concept. Generally, the robots are designed to surpass the human capabilities and Yamaha Motobot is no different, it has been developed under “Beyond Human Capabilities” concept. The company has been pushing hard to make this project live. Once finished, it will surely going to create a new value in the world of biking.
