Likely to be launched by this festive season
Triumph Motorcycles have hinted towards the launch of two new road-biassed 400cc bikes, as reported by another publication. Triumph will launch the two upcoming bikes around the festive season, to achieve the sales target of 10,000 units per month. We speculate that the upcoming bikes will be the long-awaited Triumph Thruxton 400 & Triumph Speedmaster 400, here’s what we think they will be like:
Triumph Thruxton 400
One of the upcoming bikes could be the Triumph Thruxton 400, a retro cafe racer-style bike. We have seen the Triumph Thruxton 400 being tested earlier. Inspired by the bigger Triumph Thruxton, it will be equipped with frame-mounted half-fairings and clip-on handlebars, putting the rider in a sporty riding position. This will mostly be a sportier version of the Triumph Speed 400.

The bike will likely be built on the same frame as the Triumph Speed 400, equipped with a 43mm inverted fork and a gas-charged preload adjustable monoshock. It will also be powered by the same 399cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Speed 400 making 40PS at 8000 rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500 rpm but with a different engine tune for better top-end performance. The braking setup is likely unchanged as well, fitted with a 300mm front disc and 230mm rear disc brake. It will also feature a ride-by-wire throttle and a slip-and-assist clutch. We expect the Thruxton 400 to be priced around the 2.62 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
Triumph Speedmaster 400
Having covered the roadster, scrambler and cafe racer categories, we reckon the fourth one will likely be a cruiser-style bike. The Triumph Speedmaster 400 is speculated to fill the shoes of the cruiser-style bike. While we haven’t seen any spy shots of the Speedmaster 400 it is speculated to have a relaxed riding position along with a longer wheelbase than the Speed 400.
This bike will also be based on the same engine platform as the Speed 400 with similar underpinnings. If you’re looking for a cruiser-style bike, but not a Royal Enfield. We suggest you hold your horses. This bike from Triumph will be an interesting one.
While these are the two bikes we think will be launched, there is a possibility of seeing a fully-faired bike, likely the Triumph Daytona 400. With the success the company achieved with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400, they are going all out with their 400cc platform. This is a win-win situation for us riders as we get to see more exciting bikes!
