Suzuki Motorcycle India has flagged off a long-distance expedition called the Tri-Cultural Brotherhood Ride to Thailand via Myanmar from India in a bid to celebrate the brotherhood between the three nations on the occasion of India’s 72nd Independence Day. Two riders - Sonia Jain and Abhishek Mishra - set off on the 4,200km journey from India Gate in New Delhi on the Suzuki Intruder 150 FI. The ride will see them pass through Indian cities such as Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Patna, Nagrakata, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal. They will then enter Myanmar from Tamu.
The journey through Myanmar will end at either the Golden Rock or at Tachileik (depending upon weather conditions) before entering Thailand, where the ride will culminate at Bangkok, likely in the first week of September. Sonia Jain is a popular motorcyclist and Abhishek Mishra is a three-time Ironman title winner. Here’s Suzuki’s official release on the initiative:
Press Release:
Suzuki Motorcycle India flags-off 4200 km Tri-Cultural Brotherhood Ride
Riders Abhishek Mishra and Sonia Jain to complete the journey from India and Thailand by road via Myanmar on Suzuki Intruder motorcycles
New Delhi, August 16, 2018: In a bid to celebrate the spirit of brotherhood across three nations - India, Myanmar and Thailand, Suzuki Brotherhood Tri-cultural ride was flagged-off on the occasion of India’s 72nd Independence Day. The 4200 kms Tri-cultural Ride, to be undertaken by the duo of Abhishek Mishra and Sonia Jain on Suzuki Intruder FI motorcycles, was flagged-off from the India Gate. The Tri-cultural Ride will follow the Friendship Expressway Corridor, moving from Delhi to Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Patna; towards the cities in the North-East – Nagrakata, Guwahati, Dimapur and Imphal. They will then enter Myanmar border from Tamu. The Myanmar odyssey ends at either the Golden Rock, or at Tachileik (depending upon the weather conditions; before entering Thailand where the ride will culminate at Bangkok).
Commenting on the ride Mr. Sajeev Rajashekharan, EVP, SMIPL said, “We are happy to back this great initiative undertaken by Abhishek and Sonia to promulgate international brotherhood through this tri-cultural ride. We wish them luck to face all the known and unknown challenges they might have to go through on this journey.”
Ms Sonia Jain, who is a well-known motorcyclist, said “The Brotherhood Tri-cultural ride has been my dream. I am absolutely thrilled to embark on this journey aboard the Suzuki Intruder, connecting the three nations whilst we explore their different terrains, diversified cultures, traditions and way of life. There is so much that I am looking forward to right from challenging the unknown to spectacular natural landscapes but most of all I am looking forward to inspire and be inspired.”
Mr Abhishek Mishra, a popular figure amongst India’s marathon runners and a life-guru, said, “Being an Indian triathlete I have visited several countries representing India in triathlons. While doing this I realized how it's easy to strengthen the brotherhood between countries by understanding their values and telling them about yours. Keeping that in mind, we decided that why not cover the newly opened friendship corridor which got opened with the purpose of strengthening the brotherhood. When we looked out for help to execute this ride, Suzuki came on board because of the shared synergy of thought behind the Intruder motorcycle. As an endurance athlete I am looking forward to this exciting 3 weeks, and enhance my life with learning and experience.”
The ride is expected to be concluded at Bangkok during the first-week of September.

This bike is stylish and comfortable cruiser, perfect for both city and long highway rides. Its relaxed riding position, well cushioned seats makes it super comfortable even on the long trips. Its 150cc engine isn’t built for speeding, but its smooth, refined and delivers great mileage around 40-42 km/l. If you want a bike that is easy to handle, fuel efficient and build for comfort this intruder is a great choice for you.Read More
