Suzuki Gixxer SF 250: All You Need To Know

Here’s everything you need to know about Suzuki’s new quarter-litre offering

Here’s everything you need to know about Suzuki’s new quarter-litre offering

After numerous spy shots and teasers, Suzuki India has finally launched the Gixxer SF 250 in India today. Priced at Rs 1.70 lakh, the quarter-litre Gixxer is quite a tempting proposition. That said, if you’re planning to sign on the dotted line soon, here are five things you need to know.

Design

Compare the global model to the one that just went on sale in India and you’ll notice a ton of differences. The overall design is quite sporty, with a unique headlamp design and sharp lines all over the bodywork. Additionally, it also gets split seats, a short windscreen and a chrome-tipped double barrel exhaust. What’s more interesting is that its smaller sibling, the 2019 Gixxer SF, gets the same sporty design.

Features

Suzuki hasn’t skimped on features and electronics with the Gixxer SF 250. It gets a blue backlit digital instrument cluster with an LCD display. You also get LED head and tail lamps along with raised clip-on handlebars. Further adding to its premium quotient are multi-spoke alloy wheels with a brushed metal-finish. The company has also equipped with the bike with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Engine

Powering the motorcycle is a 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with a unique oil cooling system. This unit churns out 26.5PS of power and 22.6Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, the Honda CBR250R produces an identical amount of power and slightly more torque at 22.9Nm. Not to mention, this engine is also BS 6-ready. The same cannot be said about the Honda CBR250R’s engine.

Accessories

Suzuki is offering a whole host of accessories with the new motorcycle. This includes a tank protector, tank graphic, wheel rim sticker, a seat cover, smoked visor and a DC socket for charging your phone. However, the latter should have been offered as standard in our opinion.

Pricing and Rivals

With a price tag of Rs 1.70 lakh, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is around Rs 26,000 more expensive than the Yamaha Fazer-25. However, the Yamaha lags behind the Suzuki on the power front. But compare the Gixxer with the  Honda CBR250R and the latter is a whopping Rs 24,000 more affordable and doesn’t compromise on any front either! So, has Suzuki nailed the pricing of the Gixxer SF 250? We’re reserving our thoughts for our first ride review. Until then, stay tuned!
