After trying their hands in scooters, Mahindra two-wheelers is now again concentrating on their motorcycle division very seriously. They launched Stallio, which failed to impress and didn't perform well, the company had to recall it due to the various problems it had. Now the company has unveiled the Pantero and Centuro motorcycles, which is the re-entry of the company in the motorcycle space of the country. As we already reported the Pantero is the re-engineered Stallio, while the Centuro is also the same bike but it has different designing and more features to offer. Later on, they will also launch their affordable performance bike Mahindra Mojo.

Both the Centro and Stallio motorcycles share most of their parts and are powered by a Mahindra developed MCI-5 (Micro Chip Ignited 5-Curve) engine. The Pantero is a regular commuter and will be very affordable, the bike has good manoeuvrability, thanks to its low turning radius. On the other hand, the Centuro is a stylish avatar of the Panthero, loaded with many first in segment features including central locking anti-theft system, engine immobilizer, remote 128 bit encrypted key, maintenance free battery, find me lamps, guide lamps, LED pilot and tail lamps and digital instrument cluster with service indicator and distance to empty meter. The bike will be a costlier of lot, and it misses the storage compartment and a huge tank pad, which is on offer with the Panthero.

Both the Pantero and Centuro is powered by a 106.7cc single-cylinder engine which produces 8.5 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 8.5 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. The MCI-5 engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox and the Pantero boasts of an ARAI certified mileage of 79.5 km/l. The Panthero will be launched shortly, while the Centuro doesn’t go on sales immediately, thus more details are not available.

However the Pantero is offered in 4 variants

Mahindra Pantero Self Start/ Cast Alloy Wheels/ Digital Console

Mahindra Pantero Self Start/ Cast Alloy Wheels/ Analog Console

Mahindra Pantero Kick Start/ Cast Alloy Wheels/ Analog Console

Mahindra Pantero Kick Start/ Spoke/ Analog Console

The Pantero is offered in 4 colors namely Fiery Red, Blazing Black Cool Black and Sterling Silver. Mahindra will manufacture both these motorcycles at its Pithampur plant in Indore. Speaking to Media, Anoop Mathur, President – Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “We, at Mahindra, have stated our strategic intent of being a significant player in the two wheeler industry, by being a `Customer Inspired Technology’ company.
