Mahindra Exports Peugeot Electric Scooter To France

Peugeot’s E-Ludix electric scooter is manufactured at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility

Peugeot’s E-Ludix electric scooter is manufactured at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility

  • The electric scooter was spotted testing a few months back.
  • It comes equipped with a small 3kW motor and has a top speed of 45kmph.
  • The E-Ludix tips the scale at just 85kg!

Back in 2015, Indian auto major Mahindra & Mahindra had acquired a 51 per cent stake in France-based two-wheeler manufacturer Peugeot. Since then, we have seen a few Peugeot-badged scooters at the 2016 Auto Expo and a test mule of the E-Ludix electric scooter on Indian roads. Mahindra has now started exporting the first batch of the E-Ludix to France, making it one of the first Indian companies to export electric scooters to the European continent.

To give you a refresher on the spec sheet, the E-Ludix is powered by a 3kW electric motor and a Bosch lithium-ion battery which can be fully charged in three hours (claimed) using an external charger. The company claims that the scooter can reach a top speed of 45kmph and has a range of around 50km. Thanks to its minimalistic design and compact size, the E-Ludix weighs just 85kg (kerb). Just to put things into perspective, the TVS Scooty Pep Plus tips the scale at 95kg, making the E-Ludix one of the lightest scooters out there!

The E-Ludix is manufactured at Mahindra’s Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, plant, which has a production capacity of 7,50,000 units per annum. As of now, there’s no specific timeline given by Mahindra on when we can expect Peugeot scooters in India, but we expect the manufacturer to showcase a few two-wheelers at the upcoming Auto Expo.

Do not purchase this scooter

This is the worst scooter. I mean I have never seen any other scooter with such bad performance it breaks down every single day it doesn’t start in the morning even with a full tank of fuel after having it serviced it still breaks down I’ve had countless problems. I recommend not to buy gusto it’s my only means of transportation and its performance is so bad as to waste money.
