Mahindra Two-wheeler, has launched the highly-anticipated bike new Mahindra Centuro in India at Rs. 45,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the first 10,000 bikes will be sold at Rs. 44,000, making it excellent product. The Centuro was unveiled with Pantero earlier this year, and it is also a 110cc commuter motorcycle. The Centuro is basically a more stylish and premium product, which is positioned above the Pantero. It will compete against the likes of Hero Passion X Pro, Bajaj Discover 100T and the Honda Dream Yuga.
The Mahindra Centuro loads with various first-in-segment features including central locking anti-theft system, engine immobilizer, remoter 128 bit encrypted Key, maintenance free battery, find me lamps, guide lamps, LED pilot and tail lamps, and digital instrument cluster with service indicator and distance to empty meter.
The Mahindra Centuro is powered by the MCI-5 four stroke air cooled single cylinder 110cc engine that also powers the Pantero. This engine is developed by Mahindra's in-house team, and is capable of developing 8.4bhp and a 8.5Nm of top torque. The engine is tweaked to offer better performance, and is coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60kmph in just 8.85 seconds, and with ARAI claimed mileage of 85.4kmpl, it becomes the most fuel efficient bike in its category.
The new Mahindra Centuro is a class-defining product that aims to address the inherent needs of the Indian consumer in the two wheeler segment. It has been completely engineered around the consumer and his needs and is, in fact, a physical manifestation of what we perceive as ‘Customer Inspired Technology’. The Centuro is testimony to our determination to emerge as a serious player in the high volume commuter segment and resonates with our presence in the highly competitive Moto GP motorcycle racing championship,” said Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group.
Speaking on the launch, Anoop Mathur, President – Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “This stylish and rugged machine boasts of several highly intelligent and innovative features, several of which have never been seen in this segment before. The Centuro is backed by strong customer centric R&D and world class manufacturing and is the result of extensive, pan India consumer research, resulting in a product that is unique, yet pertinent for our customers.
