Kinetic Green E-Luna: Everything We Know So Far

The multi-utility e-scooter will get smartphone connectivity and even swappable batteries!

Kinetic Green is set to launch the E-luna, a multi-utility electric scooter. The e-scooter will be an electric avatar of the iconic Kinetic Luna. Last week we had the opportunity to talk to the founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, Ms Sulajja Firodia Motwani and here’s what we were able to find out about the E-Luna so far.

Design

The E-Luna maintains the design language of the iconic Kinetic Luna and comes with a minimalist and utilitarian design. It features a round halogen headlight housed inside a square nacelle and has bulb indicators mounted on the same. The floorboard is long and spacious, and comes with a hook mounted in the front for stowing luggage. The E-Luna name is engraved in metal lettering on the side panel, below the front seat.

The seating setup consists of two seats and the battery pack is housed under it. Another interesting thing about the E-Luna is that the back seat can be removed and turned into a platform for carrying loads. Lastly, the taillight and indicators are also halogen units. In terms of colours and liveries, the manufacturer plans on providing customization options which will allow the customers to choose the appearance of the e-scooter

Powertrain

Coming to the powertrain, the E-Luna is powered by a mid-mounted motor that produces peak power of 2kW, mated to a 2kWh battery pack. It has a top speed of 50kmph and a claimed range of 110km. The customers will be able to swap out the batteries for a range of different options, from a 1.5kWh LFP (lithium ferrophosphate) battery to 2kWh and 3kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries. Kinetic Green is also working on a more powerful motor with a peak power output of 3kW which will give the scooter a top speed of 65-70kmph.

Underpinnings

In terms of underpinnings, the E-Luna comes with a telescopic front fork and twin shock absorbers. The E-luna rolls on 16-inch spoke wheels with tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes at both ends. The seat height is 760mm and the ground clearance is 170mm. The kerb weight, meanwhile, is 96kg.

Features

Features wise, the E-Luna will come with a fully digital instrument console that gives readouts like speed, battery level, time, odometer and tripmeters. Customers can also use the KG Connect app for smartphone connectivity, which will give them detailed ride stats of the vehicle’s performance along with readouts like distance-to-empty both on the instrument cluster and the app.

Expected Price And Rivals

The E-Luna is likely to be launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 80,000 and once launched it will be an electric alternative to the TVS XL 100 and a direct rival to the Okinawa Dual 100.
