Indian Roadmaster launched in India, Priced at Rs. 37 lac

The American leisure motorcycle maker, Indian Motorcycle, has launched its flagship model- Roadmaster in India at a price of Rs. 37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Deliveries of the motorcycle is expected to be started by the mid 2015. The super touring cruiser is based on the popular Indian Chief range, which is already available in the Indian market, but gets some additional comfort and convenience features to make your long rides better.

Powering the 403 kg weighing Indian Roadmaster is the iconic Thunder Stroke 111 engine, which powers the Chief range of cruisers as well. The 1,811cc, air-cooled, V-Twin makes 161.6Nm of peak torque at just 3,000rpm using a closed loop fuel injection system. The engine comes mated to a super smooth 6-speed gearbox, which is further connected to the rear wheel via a toothed belt drive on the right side of the motorcycle.

Styling of the Indian Roadmaster is almost similar the Chieftain, with a teardrop fuel tank, a big front fairing, skirt type fenders and hard saddlebags. However, there are many different elements like the seat design, lower fairings, rear storage box and pillion backrest. The front fairing holds an LED triple-pod headlight arrangement, LED indicators and an adjustable windshield. The bike features keyless ignition and a remote locking storage capacity of more than 140-litre. For extreme comfort, it comes with heated grips and seat and adjustable floorboards.

Indian Roadmaster comes with 43mm cartridge front telescopic forks and pneumatically adjustable rear mono-shock. It runs on 16” cast wheels, which comes covered with Dunlop Elite 130/90 front and 180/60 rear tyres. The front wheel has been equipped with dual 300mm floating disc brakes with a 4-piston caliper on each disc, while the rear gets single disc of the similar size with a 2-piston caliper. The bike comes with a highly informative instrument cluster along with an advanced infotainment system having GPS, phone and Pandora. The 2015 Indian Roadmaster is available in three colour options- Red, Black and Ivory Cream.
