The Hero Mavrick 440 is the brand’s flagship motorcycle that’s not only easy to ride, but also easy to own. It’s the most affordable 440cc motorcycle in India, and here are its 6 feature highlights
The Hero Mavrick 440 is the most powerful bike from Hero Motocorp, the Global Motorcycle leader -, but at the same time, it’s quite friendly to ride. It also makes for a great first bike, which we explained in our last story. But here are 6 features of the Maverick that you cannot miss.
Engine & Performance: Punchy & Exciting
The Hero Mavrick 440 is powered by a 440cc air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 27.36PS at 6000rpm and 36Nm at 4000rpm. The engine is super relaxed which allows you to cruise at triple digit speeds without really revving it out. However if you do rev it out, the bassy exhaust note makes the bike feel commanding to ride. The Mavrick makes 90% of its torque at as low as 2000rpm which makes it easy to filter through traffic, or to accelerate quickly if you are in mood for some fun.
The slip and assist clutch also makes it easy to go through its six gears. The clutch lever is so light that you can operate it easily with just one finger. That means no more aching fingers after a long commute. Which takes us to the next point of the Mavrick’s comfort.
Comfort: Effortless Riding
We have ridden the Mavrick in mixed conditions: highway and city, and nowhere has it felt uncomfortable. Whether it's sitting on the saddle for long hours while touring out, or riding on the city roads full of potholes and uneven bumps and speed breakers.
Even though you are sitting in a sporty posture, it isn’t tiring. It offers uncompromising comfort at high speeds, on the straight highways, and even in corners. Since it does everything you ask it with so much confidence, it takes away the stress of riding. All of that combined with a torquey engine results in effortless riding that doesn’t leave you tired.
Instrument Cluster: Detailed Yet Crisp
One of the biggest stand-out features on the Mavrick is its instrument cluster. While it looks retro because of its shape, it is as modern as it gets with everything it does. It has a wide fully digital, negatively lit display that is easy to read. On the left edge is a vertical tachometer that shows engine revolutions in the increments of 2000rpm. Besides it a nice big speedometer that’s easy to read at a glance, just like everything else on the display. Besides it a gear indicator which means you don’t have to keep wondering which gear the bike is in. The fuel gauge takes the centre stage, which makes it even easier to keep a check on the fuel level. With a real-time mileage readout, you also know how much fuel the Mavrick is consuming and accordingly make changes to your riding style to optimise the fuel consumption.
On the right side of the display is the turn-by-turn navigation which clearly shows whether you have to go straight, take a turn or even a U-turn, and the expected time of arrival at your destination. The tell-tale indications are positioned nicely above and below the speedometer section, and are quickly visible at a glance.
Connectivity: Stay Connected On The Go!
The Hero Mavrick has Bluetooth smartphone connectivity with a dedicated app. The app allows the Mavrick’s display to show you call and message alerts, missed call alerts, your phone battery percentage, and navigation.
You can quite literally keep a track of your Mavrick with the location sharing from the app. You can also check your bike’s health with the Vehicle Diagnosis function. There’s also app-based geo-fencing, and access to roadside assistance should you face any problem out on the road. All of these features let you ride worry-free whether you are in the city or out on the highway away from home. The e-sim in the bike means it needn’t always be connected to your smartphone to make use of its smart features.
Price: Most Affordable 440cc Motorcycle
The Hero Mavrick 440 is available in three variants: base, mid, and top, which are clearly differentiated from each other. The base variant of the Mavrick is priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, which makes the Mavrick the most affordable 440cc bike in india. The base variant comes with spoked wheels and in the Arctic White paint scheme.
The mid variant is priced at Rs 2.14 lakh, and can be either had in red or blue. It comes with tubeless alloy wheels. The top variant costs Rs 2.24 lakh and has diamond-cut alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, machine-finished engine fins, e-sim connectivity, and 3D logos. It can be had in either of the two paint schemes: glossy black or matte black. The latter comes with a brown leather for the rider’s portion of the seat, and makes the bike look particularly classy.
The Mavrick 440 has been priced quite competitively in India, and undercuts a lot of its rivals, making it quite a value-for-money proposition.
Ownership Experience: Easy & Hasslefree
Hero MotoCorp has a presence in over 700 cities in India, which means you won’t ever be quite far away from authorised help anywhere in the country. Couple that with renowned affordable ownership that’s part of any Hero motorcycle.
Considering everything that the Hero Mavrick gets, coupled with the price and ownership costs, it won’t be wrong to say that the Mavrick the most logical 440cc bike to have in your garage. The riding experience is docile yet something you can enjoy for a long time. There are enough features to keep the bike modern even with retro-esque styling. And with the Hero’s service network and affordable ownership costs, you will have enough money left in the back to fill up the tank, go for a long ride, and come back with a wide grin pasted on your face.
