The hyperbike features an Akrapovic exhaust, which could give it a bump in performance

Suzuki is all set to unveil the new Hayabusa GP Edition at the Autolook Week Torino festival between September 7 and 11. The only picture that has surfaced on the internet reveals some interesting bits about the upcoming motorcycle.

The Suzuki Hayabusa GP Edition will come draped in the Japanese bikemaker’s GSX-RR MotoGP bike-inspired livery. So, it gets the same silver and blue paint job and has the same iconic Kanji symbol. And to celebrate Suzuki’s Premiere Class riders, the bike was seen flaunting Alex Rins and 2020 title winner Joan Mir’s racing numbers and accents.

While technical details are yet to be revealed, the image showed the two bikes packing an Akrapovic exhaust, which should bump up the performance of the 1340cc inline-four powerhouse from the standard 190PS and 150Nm. Though the performance could be amped up, we do not expect any updates to the underpinnings.

It is unclear whether these are one-off display models or will go on sale just like the Gixxer and GSX-R1000R MotoGP lineups. However, if you look closely, the display models have their LED indicators, even though the headlights have been masked. This could mean that it could be a road-legal bike and not a track-only weapon.

With Suzuki exiting MotoGP, introducing its legendary Hayabusa with the same livery is a perfect way to bid adieu. If the Suzuki Hayabusa GP Edition goes on sale internationally, will it come to India? Given the popularity of the Dhoom bike, we don’t see a reason why it won’t.
