Gravton has launched the Quanta electric motorcycle in India. Gravton claims that Quanta is India’s first all-terrain electric motorcycle which comes with LMFP (Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate) battery.
Design
The Gravton Quanta gets a moped-like design and is available in two colours: White and Red. In a true moped fashion, the Quanta lacks a floorboard and has footpegs on either side of the motorcycle. The beefy mid-section and slim tail section makes the Quanta look quite good for a moped. The alloy wheels and Quanta badging on either side makes the motorcycle stand out.
Battery and Range
The Gravton Quanta gets a 2.78kWh LMFP battery which Gravton claims will provide a range of 125km on a full charge. The motorcycle gets three riding modes: Eco, Power and Sports mode which alter the power output and the range. Gravton claims that in Eco mode, the Quanta will deliver a claimed range of 125km, 100km in Power mode and 85km in Sports mode. The Quanta will charge from 0-80 percent in 90 minutes and can be charged anywhere with a 3-pin socket.
Performance and Underpinnings
The Gravton Quanta gets a wheel mounted motor which produces a 3kW and 170Nm which accelerates it to a claimed top-speed of 75kmph. The Quanta is built on a trellis frame chassis and has a kerb weight of 113.6kg. It gets a telescopic fork and twin-shock absorbers, while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels. It has a modest ground clearance of 183mm and an accessible seat height of 785mm.
Features
The Quanta features all-LED lighting, an LCD instrument cluster which allows for three riding modes and smartphone connectivity through the Quanta app. The Quanta app allows for monitoring battery health, charge status and range, enabling remote access to certain features, like starting or stopping the bike and locating it. It can also send notifications about potential unauthorized access or tampering.
Price and Rivals
The Gravton Quanta is priced for Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes against the likes of Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1 and the Ather 450X.
