EXCLUSIVE: Indian Challenger Bookings Open In India, Ex-showroom Price Revealed

  • Keyless ignition, adjustable windscreen, a full-colour instrument display, and more make the Challenger a feature-rich motorcycle.
  • An all-new 1769cc engine forms the heart of the flagship cruiser.
  • It can be customised with over 70 official accessories.

For those of you that are interested in a true-blue, all-American motorcycling experience but don’t want to go down the mainstream route, Indian Motorcycle has begun accepting bookings for its Challenger bagger. Prepare for a big dent in your pocket, though. That’s because Indian’s flagship cruiser costs a mammoth Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Rs 1 lakh is what it’ll take to secure your Challenger, and three variants are on offer -- standard, Dark Horse and Limited -- with over 70 accessories to choose from.

Launched internationally last year, the Challenger is an all-new motorcycle built around an all-new motor. The 1769cc PowerPlus V-twin motor churns out 124PS and 173.5Nm, making the Challenger the most powerful cruiser in Indian’s lineup. All that firepower is opposed by 320mm front discs bitten on by Brembo 4-piston radial calipers and a 298mm rear disc with a 2-piston caliper.

All that money you’re paying better buy you something good, right? Well, the Challenger is also packed to the brim with features, getting full-LED lighting, cruise control, keyless ignition, and an adjustable windscreen and saddlebags (with a total capacity of 68 litres!). Wait, that’s not all - it also gets a full-colour 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity like the FTR 1200.
