Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch a new version of its sporty 160cc motorcycle, the Xtreme 160R 4V. This new ‘Combat Edition’ variant has already started arriving at some dealerships across the country, even before the brand’s official launch announcement. Here is everything you need to know about this upcoming 160cc streetfighter.
The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition comes with several updates that should make it more appealing and modern than before. The front-end now features a redesigned LED headlamp setup that looks sharper and more aggressive, quite similar to the one seen on the bigger Hero Xtreme 250R. Along with this, the bike also gets a new light grey colour option with neon graphics, quite typical of Hero’s Combat Edition treatment for its other products.
The biggest talking points here are the new features the Xtreme 160R 4V gets. This Combat Edition gets a ride-by-wire throttle system and cruise control, both of which are first in the segment. These features should improve convenience, especially during long rides. It also gets new switchgear on both sides of the handlebar, for the rider to easily operate through these functions. Along with this, the bike also gets three ride modes: Rain, Road and Sport. Whether or not these tweak the power settings, throttle map or ABS settings needs to be seen.
Mechanically, the motorcycle remains mostly the same as the standard model. It continues to be powered by the 163.2cc, air and oil-cooled engine that produces 16.9PS and 14.6Nm. The engine is paired with a smooth five-speed gearbox, offering a good balance of performance and efficiency. The suspension setup includes golden coloured KYB USD fork and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.
While Hero MotoCorp has not revealed the official price yet, the Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition is expected to be priced slightly higher than the standard variant, which currently costs Rs 1,29,615 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, the pricing for the Xtreme 160R 4V is already quite high for a 160cc motorcycle and with the new features added, it will become even higher. Probably as expensive as the recently updated TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, which gets even more features.

- Total honest review after 6000 kmI choose this bike for its sporty looks, power and the balanced light weight body which made it good for every day commuting (on highways) also had a really good acceleration and low end tourq for the city over takes. Pros: 1. Light weight and light handling. 2. Good low end tourq for city. 3. Looks are also stunning. 4. Comfortable in ride even if drove around 300 km a day. Cons: 1. Top end is not very well, feels under power after 75. 2. The limiter hits early each gear. 3. Build is not very reliable. 4. Mileage drops rapidly as soon as you drove a little harsh. This bike is okay for city tour and every day commuting, even though the power to weight ratio is good on paper, in every day life it isn't. Also the build quality is not very well as recently had an minor accident and the left usd broke, rim got bent. Leaving that side, it has a great acceleration till 70-80 after then the engine gets some stress. Mileage is also not a great highlight in this but ok around 35-37. So in the conclusion, I would recommend this bike only for normal usage, don't have any high hopes from this bike.Read More
