Fresher design, and engine from the 990 Duke
The upcoming KTM 990 Adventure has been spotted testing abroad, and the motorcycle appears to be almost production-ready. This suggests that KTM could unveil the new adventure motorcycle soon, with its global debut potentially taking place at EICMA 2026.
Fresher Adventure Design
The KTM 990 Adventure looks noticeably different from the brand’s current adventure motorcycle lineup. Up front, it gets a smaller-looking headlight section with an LED projector, while the fairing has been designed to give the motorcycle a more traditional adventure-bike appearance. The tall windscreen should offer good wind protection for highway riding, while the chunky, upswept exhaust adds to its rugged look.
The motorcycle also gets a fairly upright riding position, with a high-mounted single-piece handlebar and slightly rear-set footpegs. This setup should make the 990 Adventure better suited to long-distance touring, while still allowing the rider to stand comfortably on the footpegs when riding off-road.
The Underpinnings
The test bike can be seen running on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup. These are expected to be tubeless wheels, which should make the motorcycle more practical for touring. The combination should also offer a good balance between confident tarmac handling and off-road capability.

KTM 350cc Bikes Launch Timeline990cc Twin Engine
The KTM 990 Adventure is expected to use the same 947 cc parallel-twin engine found in the KTM 990 Duke and RC 990. In the 990 Duke, this engine produces 123 PS and 103 Nm, making it a fairly potent unit for an adventure motorcycle. However, KTM could give the Adventure a slightly different state of tune, with a stronger focus on low- and mid-range performance and smoother power delivery.
Expected Launch
The KTM 990 Adventure could make its global debut at EICMA 2026, although KTM has not confirmed an unveil date yet. An India launch timeline is also unclear at the moment. If introduced here, the motorcycle could slot into KTM’s lineup as a more road-focused alternative to its larger adventure offerings.
