Benelli Leoncino 250 Launched at Rs 2.50 lakh

While we are still waiting for Benelli to launch the Imperiale 400 in India, the bike maker has gone ahead and launched the Leoncino 250. Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), it is the most affordable Benelli motorcycle on sale in India. Official bookings for the baby scrambler are underway on Benelli India’s website for a token amount of Rs 6,000.
In terms of design, the Leoncino 250 carries forward the same styling elements as its bigger cousin, the Leoncino 500. The baby Leoncino pulls off the neo-retro look quite well, thanks to its curvy fuel tank and LED headlamp unit. Additionally, unlike the 500cc variant, the Leoncino 250 comes with not-so-subtle paint options: white, anthracite, red and brown.
Powering the motorcycle is a single-cylinder 249cc liquid-cooled motor, which churns out 25.8PS of power and 21Nm of torque. The Leoncino 250 might not be the most powerful 250cc out there, but it is more powerful than the Yamaha FZ25 and the Honda CBR250R. Its transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox.
The Leoncino 250 sits on a steel trellis frame and tips the scale at 153kg (dry). The entry-level Benelli comes equipped with a single 280mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS offered as a standard fitment. Being a Benelli, it gets a big fat 41mm upside-down fork up front and rear monoshock. Its seat height stands at 810mm, which is 26mm more than the CBR250R. At 12.5-litre, the fuel tank on the Leoncino 250 is slightly smaller compared to the Honda CBR250R.
Apart from this, Benelli is also planning to add a bigger-powered variant of the Leoncino, which is expected to be launched in India by next year.
