India’s largest bike maker, Bajaj Auto, launched its 100cc model of Bajaj Boxer in a brand new avatar, badged as Bajaj Boxer 150. The new Bajaj Boxer 150 has been placed as a powerful traveler, which is particularly aimed at the people who don’t care about the looks of the bike but keep the focus on a strapping bike that deliver an awesome fuel economy. The auto major has termed Bajaj Boxer 150 as the ‘Bharat Bike’ and launched at a very decent price tag, Rs. 42,051 only, thereby making it the cheapest 150cc bike in the country. At this moment, Bajaj Auto is hoping high and aims to make its sales figures ruse up considerably. But to its bad luck, Bajaj Boxer 150cc began with poor figures on the sales register.

According to certain reliable sources, Bajaj Auto has been selling around 2500 to 3000 motorcycles per month, which is unquestionably a very demining figure. When enquired about the reason behind such poor sales, the company mentioned that its new power traveler will take a bit of time to get itself established in the market. The Bajaj Boxer 150 was actually launched in the month of September 2011. However, many bike pundits are disagreeing with Bajaj’s perspective and telling that the positioning of 150cc Bajaj Boxer is not correct. The bike targets the rural consumers, where it has a major competition from Hero Bikes that happens to hold about 45% sales in the rural population.

The rural consumers are sensitive towards the build-quality along with the resale value and most importantly the price of the bike. And Bajaj scores less point as compared to Hero. To rev up the sales, Bajaj Auto is marketing its Bharat Bike in about 16000 villages. The marketing crusade will comprise of demo vans, where the bike would be displayed and will also be offered for test drives to the aspiring consumers.
