The company is selling the e-scooter only in Andhra Pradesh for now

  • Andhra Pradesh-based Avera’s first electric scooter is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • The electric scooter has a claimed range of 120-140km.
  • The company claims that the e-scooter has a top speed of 90kmph.

Back in February, Andhra Pradesh-based electric scooter manufacturer Avera had launched its maiden model, the Retrosa, at Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom AP). The company has now officially begun the delivery process. Interested customers can book their Retrosa with a token amount of Rs 11,000. As of now, the electric scooter is available only in Andhra Pradesh.

When it comes to design, rather than using the futuristic and bold approach that most electric startups are going with, Avera has given the Retrosa a Vespa-esque design language. Feature-wise, the Retrosa is almost at par with the segment-leader Ather 450. It gets two ride modes (Economy and Sport+), a fully digital instrument cluster and LED lights at both ends.

Powering this scooter is a 72V hub motor which propels it to a top speed of 90kmph. The company claims that the Retrosa has a range of 120-140km. It also says that the batteries can be charged in 3-4 hours via a conventional charger. If you are using a fast charger, the batteries can be charged in just 1-2 hours. Also, this e-scooter is one of the lightest in India, at 88kg! Just to give you a perspective, the lightest petrol-powered scooter is the TVS Scooty Pep Plus, which is 9kg heavier than the Retrosa.

Suspension duties are taken care of by a telescopic fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware consists of disc brakes at both ends. The company is planning to expand its footprint across the country by setting up 100 charging stations.

In terms of rivals, it goes up against the Okinawa i-Praise (Rs 1.14 ex-showroom) and the Ather 450 (Rs 1.23 on-road).
