The electric two-wheeler manufacturer says it has made a host of improvements to its scooters too

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Ather Energy, which launched its first-ever e-scooter, the Ather 450, has announced that it has started delivering the scooters to its first lot of customers in the city. Additionally, the company says it has improved the scooters based on the feedback it received from customers and journalists during the first ride event. The updates include a more robust switchgear, improved shrouds around the dash and brighter headlamps.

Apart from these changes, the manufacturer has also improved the rearview mirrors which were found to be too stiff during the first ride. However, a certain amount of stiffness is acceptable considering the state of our Indian roads, which are prone to loosen various bits and bobs due to vibrations. The firm also said that it will roll out software updates in the near future to optimise the performance of the scooter even further.

Ather says it began delivering the scooters after setting up private charging stations at the residence of the first lot of customers. Apart from this, Ather is also providing a comprehensive one-year subscription plan which covers data costs, domestic as well as public charging costs, periodic doorstep service and the cost of common spare parts.

Currently, the company has installed 22 charging stations across Bengaluru. These charging stations can be found on the AtherGrid app, which is available on both Android and iOS devices. It added that it will soon expand its reach by setting up a dealership in Chennai and other cities by the end of the year. The company has already begun setting up charging stations in Chennai and will soon launch its experience centre called AtherSpace by the second quarter of 2019.

The Ather 450 has a claimed 0-40kmph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 80kmph. It boasts of a 75km range on a single charge, which should be good enough for your daily commutes.
