India’s leading automobile manufacture Mahindra & Mahindra started motorcycle manufacturing after acquiring Kinetic Engineering and renamed it as Mahindra Two-wheelers. The company launched their maiden bike Stallio 110 soon after, which was unveiled by bollywood star Aamir Khan. However, the bike failed to impress as there were technical issues with its gearbox which is why Mahindra pulled this bike out of market. Now, Mahindra is planning to relaunch this bike soon, with a new name; Mahindra Panthero 110, as we reported recently. Aamir Khan, who is also the brand ambassador of Mahindra Stallio, has ridden this bike in his upcoming flick Talaash, which is soon going to hit screens. In a teaser of the movie, we observe Aamir riding the bike while Rani Mukhrjee sits behind him.

This scene is considered as the first promotional video of the upcoming Panthero 110 across the industry and we agree with this wholeheartedly. The Stallio 110 or now the Panthero 110 as it has been newly christened, is a mass segment bike and will target college students as well as daily commuters. We recently reported that the bike was spotted during test runs at several places in the country and will be launched in January or February 2013. The new Panthero is largely unchanged except for its new name, which retains Mahindra’s unique nomenclature in which the company christens its products with names ending in the letter ‘O’.

All the Mahindra cars follow this nomenclature including two of Mahindra's scooters; the Duro and the Rodeo with only the Flyte and Kine being the exceptions. Mahindra Stallio had many technical issues with most of them being associated with its gear box, so we are expecting that this new model of the bike won’t have the same problems. The engine will continue to be the 110cc, four stroke motor, producing 7.3bhp of peak power and 8Nm of peak torque. The engine is expected to be mated to a tuned 4-speed manual gearbox. The bike will feature the same specification of the Stallio.

We are sharing the teaser of Talaash, in which Aamir Khan rides the bike. We expect that the company will launch a full fledged promotional video at the time of the launch that will also feature Aamir. However, it will be very difficult for Mahindra to make its way into the jam-packed commuter segment as the Panthero has to face the heat of competition from the likes of Hero Passion XPro 110, Honda Dream Yuga and Twister.
