Livo is an offering from Honda in the premium commuter bike segment with good build quality, fresh design and good fuel efficiency

    Overview

Honda Livo is an ideal companion for young as well as old especially for those who keep fuel efficiency factor above anything else when purchasing a bike. Returning a fuel economy of 74kmpl in traffic-ridden city conditions and with added features like AHO, front disc brake option, BS-IV compliant engine and satisfactory suspension assembly, this bike certainly tops the consideration charts of a commuter buyer. Design wise, Honda Livo is more than satisfactory. The sharp cuts, sculpted fuel tank, bold and edgy headlamp cluster and novel meter design leave a lasting impression.

Adding to its character, there are low rolling resistance tyres for increased fuel efficiency, 5-step adjustable suspension for normalizing road undulations, maintenance free battery and Honda Eco Technology for less pollution.

In order to buy this amazing feature-loaded bike, you need to shell out Rs 54,974 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Standard variant which comes with drum brakes and Rs 57,457 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) for the range-topping variant with front disc brake.

    Design

The best part of Livo’s design is that it isn’t loud but embraces the looks a buyer would die for. Honda Livo is sophistically designed keeping in mind the aspects that are likely to impress the buyers. Like Honda’ other bikes, it also has those cuts and sharp feel. The headlamp cluster is a perfect example of the same. It is edgy and smart with black windscreen encased in dual-tone bikini fairing that is sharply put in place. There are body coloured mirrors on either side supporting the plush feel of the bike. The energetic and sculpted fuel tank adds to its macho appeal.

The black side panels are made up of premium plastic. They are finely crafted to match the overall design of the bike that gets nicely integrated into the rear panel. The instrument cluster of the bike is not ordinary rather adorns a modern feel packed in a hexagonal shape. The left side of which has the speedometer and odometer while the right shows the fuel gauge. The upright handlebar, the positioning of the foot pegs and the long seat make it for comfortable city commutes as well as long rides. The refreshed taillight design and grab rail give Livo a nice ending while the major side highlight of the bike is the two-piece modern muffler with chrome garnishing. Dimensionally it measures 2020mm long, 738mm wide and 1099mm high. Ground clearance stands at 180mm and wheelbase is around 1285mm.

    Features

As far as safety is concerned, there are Low Rolling Resistance Tubeless Tyres for adequate friction and grip on roads. Further, you get AHO as a safety feature that enhances visibility for better riding not only in conditions like dust and fog but also in bright sunlight. However, the company has still kept features like ABS (Anti-lock braking system) and CBS (Combi brake system) at bay. We can expect Honda to include these features in future editions but as of now, there aren’t any options available.

    Engine, Mileage & Performance

The engine is mated to a 4-speed transmission system that is claimed to attain a top speed of 86kmph. Integrating with HET (Honda Eco Technology), the company claims it to return a mileage of 74kmpl. Plus, the low kerb weight of 111kg vouches for great performance and economy.

    Handling & Ride Quality

Built on the diamond frame, the Honda Livo rides on telescopic front forks and spring loaded 5 step adjustable hydraulic type suspension at the rear. The setup is good enough for city commutes and capable of passing through rough roads with ease. On the braking front, the standard variant gets 130mm drum brakes on both front as well as rear ends. There is a front disc variant as well that sports 240mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. Talking about the tyres, front and rear ends sport 80/100 18-inch tubeless low rolling resistance tyres that also aid in improving the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

    Honda Livo BS4 Latest Updates

Honda has launched the Livo with the safety net of CBS (Combined Braking System). The bike is offered in two variants - disc and drum, priced at Rs 57,539 and Rs 59,950 respectively. The bike remains unchanged otherwise. It features sporty design, body-coloured mirrors and a semi-digital instrument console which displays service due indicator and clock. Additionally, the bike gets Honda's low rolling resistance tyres which improve fuel efficiency. Powering the bike is a BSIV-compliant 109. 9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 8. 31PS of power at 7,500rpm and 9. 09Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The motor comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox. It uses a diamond-type frame with conventional telescopic forks and a twin shock setup at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 240mm disc or a 130mm disc up front. The rear gets a 130mm drum unit. Its 18-inch alloys come shod in 80/100-section tubeless tyres at both ends. The Honda Livo competes with the Hero Splendor iSmart 110, TVS Victor and the Bajaj Discover 110.
