Expert Review
Harley-Davidson X440 T is a premium model in the brand’s X440 range. It was launched in India at Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). If you are planning to buy one, here’s how much it will cost you on-road in your city. However, if you want to get on loan, we have explained how much EMI you would have to pay, depending on different tenures.
The Harley-Davidson X440 T is a sporty-looking retro-styled bike that’s based on the same platform as the standard X440. However, it has some changes to the bodywork that make it visually different from the standard bike. It also has some new features.
From the front, the X440 T looks identical to the X440, since it has the same round LED headlight unit. However, the T has ride-by-wire, because of which it doesn’t have a lot of cables running out from the handlebar, giving it a clutter-free look. Talking about the handlebar, the X440 T has bar-end mirrors that add to its premium appeal.
The fuel tank is the same as the standard bike, however, this one has graphics on the fuel tank instead of a 3D emblem. The rear-end is completely new and looks much sportier than the standard bike. The rear fender is flatter, and has the tail-light integrated into the bodywork. The pillion grab rails are also new, and look much cleaner.
Overall, the X440 T looks more like a sporty modern-classic bike because of the change in the styling and aesthetics.
Safety Features
The X440 T has switchable dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, and two-riding modes (Rain & road). In the Road mode, the engine delivers its complete performance, and the rear ABS and traction control can be switched off. However, in the Rain mode, the torque goes down by 10 percent, and the rider aids cannot be switched off. Also, it has a panic braking alert, that flashes all indicators in case of hard or panic braking.
Those are the major feature differences between the X440 T and the X440, however there’s a lot more that separates the two bikes.
Convenience Features
Convenience remains more or less the same as the standard X440. It gets LED lights all around. In our experience, the LED headlight on the X440 is relatively decent in terms of illumination and spread, and should be the same on this one since the headlight unit is the same.
It also gets a 3.5-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation. The instrument console has a speedometer, an odometer, and a fuel gauge. The console has a neutral gear position indicator, High Beam indicator, ABS alert, traction control alert, side-stand alert, and a service indicator.
Rider Comfort
The rider comfort could be slightly sportier on the X440 T since it has a slightly wider and flatter handlebar. Though, once you get used to the posture, riding long distances shouldn’t be an issue. At 805mm, the seat height should make it easier for most riders to place both their feet flat on the ground. Its 170mm ground clearance means you won’t have to worry about scraping the belly on bumps. That said, at 192kg (kerb), the bike is relatively heavy. The 13.5-litre fuel tank can allow long distance riding without a lot of fuel-stops, adding to touring convenience.
Pillion Comfort
The seat looks spacious and well-cushioned for the pillion. The grab-rails should make it easy for the pillion to hold on to the bike.
The X440 T has the exact same engine as the X440 – a 440cc air and oil-cooled single cylinder motor that puts out 27PS and 38Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox – no slipper clutch or a quickshifter here.
City & Highway Performance
Since the X440 T has the same performance as the X440, it should be a good bike for the city as well as the highway. It should do everyday runabouts and commutes without any tantrums. The X440’s motor performs well on the highway, and we can expect it to do the same on the X440 T. 90kmph in the sixth gear is the sweet spot for the engine. While it can go faster, the vibrations become quite noticeable and eventually uncomfortable, at least that’s what we experienced with the X440.
Gearbox
The X440 T should have a smooth gearbox that should make riding comfortable.
Brakes
The X440 T has a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with switchable rear ABS. We expect them to be able to stop the bike rather quickly, and with ABS, you can safely brake hard.
Handling
The X440T should be quite fun to cruise around in. While it’s not meant to be a corner carver, you should be able to have some fun around your favourite twisties. Its 18-inch front wheel might not be as nimble, but should make it stable on the straight highways.
The Harley-Davidson X440 T competes with the Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Classic 350, Yezdi Roadster, Jawa 350, and Honda CB350.

I choose this bike because for their iconic, timeless, and rugged aesthetic, providing a distinct sense of freedom and rebellion. Harley Davidson bikes are known for their heavy duty frames. The signature 45 degree twin engine creates a distinct potato sounds and i like this. My bike riding experience is characterised by high comfort, strong, torque performance and excellent stability, though I noticed wind fatigue and heavy weight at slow speed. I find this bike particularly comfort. Yes, the Harley Davidson bike is recommended as a highly capable comfortable, and peppy urban cruiser. The suspension is plush, handling rough roads well and the seat is well padded. If you are looking for a reliable, feature pick this bike.Read More
