Overview
TVS Motor has unveiled the all-new TVS RTR 125 at EICMA 2026, introducing a fresh entry into the premium beginner-friendly motorcycle segment. The bike combines a 125cc liquid-cooled powerplant (first for a modern TVS production bike, and also the smallest of its kind from the brand), with a unique styling and premium underpinnings.
As it is built primarily for European A1 licence holders, which is a class of licence that’s for riders who are just learning the ropes. In India, the 125cc segment is pretty price-conscious, so this motorcycle will end up being closer to premium 150cc bikes in terms of pricing. Hence, it’s unlikely to be launched here any time soon.
Design
The RTR 125 carries sharp, modern styling led by an LED projector headlamp with DRLs. The model shown on stage wears a vibrant neon yellow and silver scheme with bold RTR graphics across the fuel tank. It features an exposed frame structure, an engine undercowl, and matching neon yellow alloy wheels. All in all, the design looks quite unique and very sporty.
Features
Rider aids include switchable dual-channel ABS alongside selectable ride modes. Braking is managed by ByBre petal disc brakes at both wheels.
Instrumentation is taken care of by a 5-inch colour TFT display offering multiway connectivity and full-screen map mirroring. The motorcycle also comes with an LED projector headlamp with DRLs, while the indicators and tail light are LEDs as well.
Riding Posture & Comfort
The bike provides an upright riding position with a wide handlebar, a stepped split seat, and a windscreen up front. The narrow contour of the seat should make it easy to put both feet down at signals.
The rear seat section includes integrated split grab rails to keep the pillion comfortable on city commutes.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The motorcycle runs an all-new 125cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled DOHC motor linked to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. It puts out 14.9 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 12 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
The assist function in the clutch should make gear shifts light and the slipper function should allow the rear wheel to slip during quick downshifts. Fuel efficiency numbers are yet to be announced.
Handling & Ride Quality
The petal discs at both ends should offer better heat dissipation than conventional round discs. Also, switchable ABS means experienced riders can have fun performing controlled slides.
KYB suspension (inverted fork and rear monoshock) should offer a good ride quality on smooth roads in Europe. The swingarm is cast aluminium, and that should aid in handling as well. Expect it to be a nimble, agile bike for the city streets.
Rivals To Consider
The TVS RTR 125 is meant for beginner riders in developed countries. This 125cc segment includes premium, sporty motorcycles that’ll take on the RTR 125 including the KTM 125 Duke, Yamaha MT-125, Honda CB125R, and the Kawasaki Z125.
