Triumph Bonneville T120

The Triumph Bonneville T120 is a modern classic motorcycle from the British marque. It pays homage to the iconic Bonneville heritage that started all the way back in 1959, with classic styling blended with modern technology. The T120 offers a smooth riding experience, aimed at riders looking for both retro charm and more-than-adequate performance. Triumph launched the 2026 iteration in May 2026, and the updated bike packs revised electronics, new round LED headlight, making it even more modern while preserving the retro appeal. 

It is priced from Rs 12.17 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), for both variants: the regular model, as well as the Bonneville T120 Black. The difference between the two is that the Black variant gets an all-black finish on the powertrain, bodywork and underpinnings. The base price applies to the Stone Grey colour scheme on the Bonneville T120, and Jet Black colour scheme on the Bonneville T120 Black. The Black variant also comes in Matt Silver Ice/ Matt Sapphire Black combo colour scheme on the fuel tank, which costs a whole Rs 50,000 extra. 

Other colours in the regular T120: the Aegean Blue/ New England White, and Aluminium Silver/ Cranberry Red also cost Rs 50,000 over the Stone Grey colour scheme.

The Triumph Bonneville T120 stays true to the timeless British design language. It has a round LED headlight (new for 2026) and indicators, easy-to-reach handlebar, a bench seat, simple side panels, and fuel tank finished in either monotone or dual tone colour schemes. Depending on the variant, you either get plenty of chrome and brushed metal finish on the motorcycle. The spoke wheels may look cool, but they’re not tubeless. Rounding off the design is the tastefully done twin peashooter exhausts.

Safety Features:

For 2026, the Triumph Bonneville T120 gets new cornering ABS and cornering traction control, enhancing the already existing two riding modes (Rain and Road). These aids should be more than adequate for the bike’s purpose.

Convenience Features:

The Bonneville T120 comes with a twin-dial analogue speedometer and tachometer integrated with an LCD multi-function display. The 2026 update also includes a USB Type-C charging port for added convenience. There are more goodies including saddle stays, saddlebags, heated grips among others available as accessories.

Rider Comfort:

The Bonneville T120 has neutral footpeg positioning, along with a flat bench seat, and a tall handlebar. This combo ensures the rider sits upright, and should be comfortable for both city riding and highway touring. 

Pillion Comfort:

Since it’s a bench seat, the pillion comfort should be adequate for most use-cases. There’s also the option to buy a cushioned pillion backrest which should improve the comfort considerably.

Engine, Mileage & Performance:

The Triumph Bonneville T120 is powered by a 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. It makes 80PS at 6,550rpm, 105Nm at 3,500rpm. The engine comes with a 270-degree firing order for a unique engine character and sound.

City & Highway Performance:

The Bonneville T120 has more than enough firepower for city commutes as well as highway rides. That said, you might want to be wary of the engine heat on hot, traffic-riddled roads – this is simply an inherent characteristic of a large-capacity engine. Out on the highway, cruising at triple-digit speeds should be effortless. 

Gearbox:

The T120’s engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The assist function reduces the lever effort whereas the slipper clutch prevents the rear wheel from locking up due to hard downshifts. 

Brakes:

It gets dual 310mm front discs with Brembo 2-piston floating calipers, a 255mm rear disc with a Nissin 2-piston caliper, and dual-channel ABS. As mentioned earlier, the cornering ABS really round off the package as it should offer better cornering confidence.

Handling & Ride Quality:

The Triumph Bonneville T120 is built on a tubular steel twin-cradle frame, 41mm KYB cartridge fork and twin KYB rear shocks with preload adjustment. It runs on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, shod with 100-section and 150-section tubed tyres respectively. It may not be designed for out-and-out cornering, but should be predictable and accurate enough for daily commutes and weekend rides. 

The bike has a fairly accessible seat height of 790mm, a somewhat hefty kerb weight of 236kg, and a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 litres. 

Rivals To Consider:

In India, the closest rival to the Triumph Bonneville T120 is the BMW R12. Other alternatives include the Harley-Davidson Sportster S, and the Indian Scout Classic. That said, the T120 is more affordable than all its rivals - and offers a rich heritage, torquey performance, a well-rounded blend of old-school charm with modern-day usability.
