Overview
The Polaris Sportsman line-up contain six off-road monsters that treat harsh surfaces pretty well. With their entry, the adventure freaks of the country get perfect companions with some cool features. The ATV’s are powered by four-stroke, fuel injected engines which are mated to an automatic transmission system with on-demand All Wheel Drive (AWD) or Two Wheel Drive (2WD) in some variants. The liquid-cooled mills deliver crisp throttle response and impressive power to conquer every terrain with ease.
The vehicles come fitted with 25x8-12 front and 25x10-12 tyres, featuring stamped steel wheels. The suspension system includes MacPherson strut at the front and Dual A-Arm suspension at the rear. Polaris Sportsman range is equipped with 4-Wheel Hydraulic Disc with Hydraulic Rear Foot Brake for enhanced safety and better braking.
The instrument cluster of these ATVs are easy to read and informative with several elements like Digital Gauge, Analog Speedometer, Odometer, Tachometer, Tripmeter, Gear Indicator, Fuel Gauge, AWD Indicator, Hi-Temp/Low-Batt Lights and DC Outlet. The fuel tank capacity is around 15 liter, giving them a long distance run without the stress of quick refuelling.
Sportsman 500 EFI tractor comes with the typical dressing of a strict off-road tractor. Apart from twin headlamps, the vehicles comes with a master light stacked at the center of the handlebar section. It has an automatic transmission system gear selector mechanism. The vehicle comes with accessories like power grader, plow system and utility carts, making it an efficient field worker as well. Polaris Sportsman Touring 850 HO EPS and Polaris Sportsman Touring 570 EFI come with a pillion seat as well for a genuine touring purpose.
The bodies of these vehicles are crafted well to carry out off-roading action efficiently. These are further equipped with a commendable lighting system, supporting the rider in dark conditions. Sportsman range also features a park in transmission brake system and lockable hand lever to provide safety.
Design
Build to win any terrain with ease and precision, Polaris introduced its premium ATV range - Sportsman in the Indian market few years ago. The range comprises of following six challenging and competiting off-roaders that deliver an uncompromising driving experience with a pure adrenaline rush: Polaris Sportsman XP 850 H.0 EPS, Sportsman Ace, Sportsman 500 EFI, Hawkeye 400 Quad Bike, Sportsman Touring 850 H0 EPS and Touring 570 EFI.
Bolted on a tough and durable chassis, the machines have been crafted keeping in mind the true emotions of an off-road freak. The sound suspension is meant to offer an optimum comfort despite all the action and comprises of McPherson Strut With 8.2" (20.8 cm) Travel at the front and Dual A-Arm, Anti-Sway Bar 9.5" (24 cm) Travel at the rear end. The fierce stopping potential is delivered by hydraulic disc brakes installed at all four wheels along with a parking brake that comes as a safety feature.
The instrumentation of Polaris Sportsman is done intelligently comprising of Digital gauge, an analogue speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, gear indicator, indicators for AWD, high temperature and low battery. Furthermore, a DC outlet is also present that helps in connecting peripheral devices on the go, giving another benefit to the driver.
Features
Polaris Sportsman range features some impressive safety features that make off-roading even more fun and secure than ever before. A park-in-transmission parking brake avoids any unintentional rolling or sliding of the vehicle while it is parked on some sloppy or uneven surface. The engine braking system along with the active descent control system automatically controls the sliding speed of the vehicle while moving down a hill or steep terrain. The vehicles have been fitted with bright and luminous white LED headlight units that offers an enriching vision at nights and low light conditions.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The range includes six challenging off-roaders with different engine capacities. Polaris Sportsman XP 850 H.0 EPS is powered by a 850cc, high output, liquid-cooled, SOHC twin-cylinder electronic fuel injected motor that comes coupled with an automatic transmission system. It comes assisted with On-Demand True All wheel Drive/Two Wheel Drive system so that the driver can configure his machine as per his requirements. Besides this, an engine braking system and active descent control system are also present to further enhance the stability and safety.
Polaris Sportsman Ace get its power from four-stroke, pro star, single cylinder engine that cranks out a peak power of 32 horsepower. Coming down to other models, Sportsman 500 EFI Tractor is propelled by a 498cc, four-stroke powerplant that generates a net power of 36.2hp with a peak torque of 41Nm at 5,500rpm. Polaris Hawkeye 400 Quad bike houses a 445cc, carbureted, four-stroke engine that comes assisted with Two wheel drive system and incorporates engine braking system as an accessory. Talking about the 2-up models, Polaris Sportsman Touring 850 H0 EPS comes fitted with a 850cc, high output, four-stroke, fuel injected mill with On-Demand true AWD/2WD and an automatic transmission setup. Lastly, Polaris Touring 570 EFI gets its revs from 567cc, four-stroke, DOHC single cylinder, electronic fuel injected mill that comes mated to an automatic gearbox as well and employs the same on-demand AWD/2WD drive system as standard.
Handling & Ride Quality
The tough off-roaders have been fitted with strong and durable equipments to make them conquer any terrain with ease. Polaris Sportsman Ace has been equipped with 25 x 8-12; 489 front and 25 x 10-12; 489 rear tyres that are mounted over durable and robust stamped steel wheels. The suspension system has been aided with MacPherson Strut With 8.2" (20.8 cm) Travel upfront and Dual A-Arm, Anti-Sway Bar 9.5" (24 cm) Travel at the rear that gives the driver enough confidence to take on any surface with ease. The vehicle comes to a standstill with the help of Single Lever 4-Wheel Hydraulic Discs with Hydraulic Rear Foot Brake that works well in all conditions.
