UM Motorcycles at 2016 Auto Expo: Launches three motorcycles from its Renegade Series

Update: UM Motorcycles have finally landed on the Indian Soil with the launch of three motorcycles from its Renegade Series. The company has brought the Renegade Commando at Rs. 1.59 lac, while the Sport S and Classic have been priced at Rs. 1.49 lac and 1.69 lac respectively. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

An American automaker, UM motorcycles has set up its registered office in Okhla, New Delhi last year that marked its official entry in Indian two-wheeler market. Earlier, the company has signed a joint venture with Delhi-based Lohia Auto to bring affordable cruisers and entry-level sportbikes. Under the agreement, a new company UML Motors has been formed with 50-50 share. At this year’s Auto Expo, the UM Motorcycles is all set to launch three motorcycles under its Renegade range. All these bikes will be manufactured at Lohia auto’s facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Let’s find out what all motorcycles will be showcased at company’s stall at the Auto Expo.

UM Renegade Sports S



UM Motorcycles has launched its first motorcycle, the Renegade Sports S at the starting price of Rs. 1.49 lac. It is powered by 279cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is coupled with a 6-speed transmission. This fuel-injected powertrain produces the power output of 26.2bhp at 8,600rpm along with the peak torque of 22.7Nm at 6,300rpm. The bike is expected to come equipped with 17-inch front and 15-inch rear alloy wheels. For comfort, the bike sports a 41mm telescopic Gabriel forks up front and twin hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. With the launch of Renegade Sports S, the UM Motorcycles will lock horns with the Hyosung Aquila GV300, which is yet to be launched.

UM Renegade Classic

US-based bike maker UM Motorycles on Wednesday launched the Renegade Classic model from its cruiser line among its three launches during the day to mark its India foray in partnership with Delhi-based Lohia Auto. The Classic, which shares its platform and engine with the company’s Sport S and Commando, is priced at Rs. 1.69 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi). This motorcycle, with its name, traditional cruiser motorcycle styling, and price tag seems to suggest that the American company is gunning to carve a piece out of Royal Enfield’s customer base. UM Renegade Commando



Apart from the other two, the company has also launched the Renegade Commando at Rs.1.59 lac. It is an elegant cruiser machine is powered by 279cc single cylinder water cooled engine  that develops 25bhp and 21.8Nm. Read More
