Mahindra GenZe 2.0 E-scooter Spied Testing In India

The GenZe features a removable lithium-ion battery and an electric hub motor at the rear

The GenZe features a removable lithium-ion battery and an electric hub motor at the rear

  • Mahindra GenZE 2. spied testing on Indian roads.
  • Currently developed and manufactured in the US market.
  • Gets a removable lithium-ion battery and an electric hub motor at the rear.
  • Packed with features like a digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity, riding modes, ride-by-wire throttle, and more!

The Mahindra GenZe 2.0 has been spotted testing in India. According to Mahindra, It’s an e-scooter that’s designed to make your life easier without compromising on fun. Interestingly though, this e-scooter isn’t manufactured here. In fact, it’s been developed for the US market and is manufactured near Detroit.  And with India's bold electrification dream and rising petrol prices, manufacturers are pushing towards developing electric vehicles for the near future. This is where the GenZe comes in to the picture.

The e-scooter has been designed with practicality in mind, and in doing so gets a ton of storage space. It also features a digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity, GPS, riding modes (Easy, Eco, Custom and Sport), ride-by-wire throttle and the ability to track and disable your scooter remotely. Additionally, it also gets LED lights at the front and rear, which should give it the competitive edge if and when it’s launched in India.

A 1.6kWh removable lithium-ion battery powers the GenZe’s electric hub motor at the rear. Mahindra claims the scooter has a range of around 50km on a single charge. The motor makes 2PS of power and a whopping 100Nm of torque. The battery pack, which comes with an integrated charger, can be plugged into any wall socket and charged fully within 3.5 hours. The utilitarian design of the scooter means its quite light, at just 105kg (on par with Honda Activa 5G and other 110cc scooters). This should aid its handling capabilities and enable it to zip through city traffic.

The Mahindra GenZe features telescopic forks and a twin shock setup at the rear. Braking is done via disc brakes at both ends. Wheels sizes measure in at 16-inches front and a smaller 12-inch at the rear. That said, if Mahindra intends to launch the GenZe 2.0 in India, expect the scooter to miss out on a lot of the above-mentioned features so as to price it more competitively. Currently, the e-scooter is priced around $3600 (Rs 2.5 lakh approx.) in the US market. As you can see, with such a high asking price, the GenZe’s future in India looks bleak. That’s until and unless, Mahindra decides to manufacture the electric scooter in India and bring down its pricing drastically.

Perfect Mixture of Touring, Cruiser, and a Sport bike.

I like my Mojo bike because of its aggressive look and style. it's a rare bike to see in public. The cons of the bike are that it is very heavy so for those who want to lean in the corners it is not a good option for you other than that it's a perfect mixture of Touring, Cruiser, and Sportbike.

Excellent Bike.

It's an amazing bike with a huge fuel tank of 21 litres and Pirelli tyres provide very well on road grip even in wet conditions. I have driven this bike for 35000 kilometres and it still performs like a new bike. It is a very powerful bike and great for highway touring. The service and maintenance cost is very low.

Most Underrated Bike

Mojo is one of the most underrated bikes in the touring segment that suffered kindof 'step behavior' from the company. Being ridden it for almost 17k in a year, the only issue faced to date is lesser service center across North India. The bike is undoubtedly one of the best manufactures in India. The color variants are really cool. High ground clearance, Pirelli stock tyres( would recommend upgrading to Scorpion STR ) are really helpful, making it both a city street bike as well as a worthy off-roader. It goes easily on any type of road. Only of Mahindra would lay some more focus over it, the bike is a hidden gem from the public.

Mahindra MOJO

Wicked looking bike few may like and few may hate, riding comfort is really good, the engine is very refined compared to many Indian bikes available in the market, I can say the best-refined engine. The drawback would be the breaks and no ABS, most of the weight is on the front end of the bike. Torque and power are good, awesome to cruise on highways (120 to 130 km's) without strain. Mahindra needs to market the bike properly.
