The iconic retro LML Star is reborn in a modern, electric avatar, take a closer look

LML has made a comeback in the Indian market, by launching three new electric two-wheelersStar, Moonshot and Orion. The LML Star is an modern electric avatar of the iconic 1990s namesake, a revival similar to what Bajaj carried out with the Chetak. Here’s a detailed look at the swanky new LML e-scooter:

On the design front, the LML Star comes off as an amalgamation of a simplistic and futuristic approach. The bodywork is sharp, clearly not intended to play on nostalgia, to present a sporty design.

The first feature you are bound to notice is the smart display on the apron, positioned between the LED headlight and LED DRLs. It is clear that this display can showcase customised messages, presumably from a smartphone application.

What stands out as an eyesore here though is a chunky floorboard, presumably due to the battery housing, although LML has mentioned that the Star might feature swappable battery technology.

While the LML Star packs a futuristic design, it is expected to boast of features too, as it is equipped with an auto on/off headlight, digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity and haptic feedback on the handlebars for navigation.

Underpinnings include a telescopic fork, while braking duties are shared between disc brakes at both ends. The LML Star also features a belt drive, similar to the Ather 450X and Simple One.

Expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), the LML Star will rival the Ola S1, Simple One and TVS iQube once launched in the second half of 2023.
