Honda Can Not Compete With Bajaj: Rajiv Bajaj

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto commented on the India's number fourth largest two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) that it can well done only in Scooter segment and can't compete with Bajaj bikes. And HMSI is achieving 55 per cent sales from its scooters although it has lots of Motorcycles in its stable, he said.

 

 

 


Presently Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has a market share of 43 per cent in scooter segment with its most popular Honda Activa, Honda Aviator and Honda Dio. While Honda is reporting only 45 per cent sales from its seven motorcycle models. He said that Honda can't challenge Bajaj bikes, it can only achieve good response from Scooters.

 


After separation India's largest motorcycle manufacturer Join venture Hero Honda, Bajaj is ready to grab this position and commented on its upcoming major competitor HMSI which has recently launched Honda CBR 250R and fully entered in the Indian motorcycle market. Presently Bajaj does not have this segment of bike, but announced.

 


As per SIAM, Bajaj Auto reported 38 per cent sales growth with sales of 2,194,522 units during period of April to February this year as compared to 1,586,984 units recorded in the same period. Meanwhile HMSI reported 53 per cent growth with sales of 600,000 units during the same period.

 


HMSI is fully entered in the bike segment and launched lots of value for money bikes in India like Honda Twister, Honda Shine, Honda Unicorn, Honda Dazzler and recently Honda CBR 250R which are major competitor of Bajaj bikes. Meanwhile Indian scooter market is dominated by Honda Activa which is in waiting period of almost 10 months.
